I'm NOT an expert on this!!! So don't take chances...seriously...but I believe it has to do with the shape of the metal...metal causes damage in microwaves because of jagged edges, or something like that...smooth wire racks and such are made to NOT cause sparks, and are safe. You can also microwave some metal things if they are rounded...or something...I don't know. I was told all this once but it's been a bit...I just know you can use metal in some circumstances, and if the rack came with the oven, it will be safe. But don't get bold and try out metal objects...

sales rep asked my advice on how to handle a project, I gave it and my supervisor supported it 100% (it meant a little extra work for the rep)

Rep comes back with - I fail to see why and how this is so difficult for you people.....followed by - do I have to send this to management to get you two to act on it?.....ending with - copying my boss's boss.

my response in a nutshell :

The only difficult part about this "John", is convincing a sales rep why we need to take the extra steps. It's failed in the past, the clients have been upset and we're trying to avoid that.

You can send it to management if you'd like, I'm going to copy my Mom on the note too (see above), for all the good it will do in addressing the potential problem you will be creating.

*I put "mymom@shaw. ca" in the CC field of the note

I ended with - I've given you three cost-free alternatives that will prevent potential client complaints and returns. In response, you have furnished us with a veiled threat and no real answer to the suggested course(s) of action.I'm at work all week, if and when you'd like to discuss the issue.

Debating whether or not to beat my youngest senseless.

I came home from work, after stopping at the store to buy stuff for dinner, had my youngest do the dishes (wife is sick, so we're doing everything tonight) and she (daughter) rinsed everything off, loaded the dishwasher and I commenced to cooking dinner. While sitting at the bar having a beer, waiting on food to be finished, I noticed suds coming out of the sides and top of the dishwasher. Shut it off and asked my daughter "How much f-ing detergent did you put in there?" She said "Same as always, why?" I the told her to come show me what she used.......

She walked to the sink, opened up the cabinet door, grabbed the Joy liquid dish soap, and I almost lost it... Nice new dishwasher, cabinets (not even painted yet) and floors are all now wet as hell.

Is it something she does all of the time? As in load the dishwasher and use the proper soap? Also, how old is she?

You know where I'm going with this  It took me until I was 17, 18 and buying my own stuff, that I started to appreciate taking care of things...

KevinD
11-29-2011, 04:14 AM
She does the dishes at least 3 times a week, sometimes by hand (if not much) sometimes with dishwasher (for about a year and a half now). So yeah, she should be used to it now. I'll also admit that my wife recently switched to "Gel" in a bottle for the dishwasher instead of the old "tablet" style soaps, but still that was 2-3 months ago.

She's 14 now.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not to old to not remember f-ing up a lot of stuff when I was younger (and getting whupped for it too) but it was just one of those things, y'know? I guess what really set me off the most is that the cabinets don't even have paint on them yet, lol

Wow, we had Thanksgiving dinner outside on the patio and today, it's snowing up in the NC mountains...

KevinD
11-30-2011, 12:42 AM
Today was a bit of a pita. Was doing the backsplash in the kitchen, took the old receptacles and light switches out, and while trying to pull the wire out of the old ones (instead of going to get my wire cutters) one of the light switches cut the piss out of my palm. Hurt like a mother. Broke out in a cold sweat, got nauseous, etc, etc. So, had some leftover suture tape from the wife's surgery, fixed it all up, and waiting to see what it looks like in the AM. May have to have a stitch or two. Not very long of a cut, but all the way from the heel of the thumb (palm side) to the thumb bone.

Oh yeah, it's clean. I bled it out for about 5 mins (pressure mode) then used some hydrogen peroxide, and then some anti bacterial ointment. Sorry about your shit day dude.

Nothing beats bleeding a wound for preventing infections, it's all I ever do for cuts, that, and let it sit in the open air as much as possible. It may sound nuts but I think it's good to let yourself be exposed to a few germs, keeps your immune system humming along. George Carlin had a great bit about germs featuring this, which, joke or not, I firmly believe in:

"Let me tell you a true story about immunization ok. When I was a little boy in New York city in the nineteen-forties, we swam in the Hudson river. And it was filled with raw sewage! OK? We swam in raw sewage, you know, to cool off. And at that time the big fear was polio. Thousands of kids died from polio every year. But you know something? In my neighborhood no one ever got polio. No one! EVER! You know why? Cause WE SWAM IN RAW SEWAGE! It strengthened our immune system, the polio never had a prayer. We were tempered in raw shit!

So personally I never take any precautions against germs. I don't shy away from people who sneeze and cough. I don't wipe off the telephone, I don't cover the toilet seat, and if I drop food on the floor I pick it up and eat it!Even if I'm at side walk cafe! IN CALCUTTA! THE POOR SECTION! ON NEW YEARS MORNING DURING A SOCCER RIOT! And you know something? In spite of all the so called "risky behavior ".... I never get infections. I don't get em. I don't get colds, I don't get flu, I don't get headaches, I don't get upset stomach, And you know why? Cause I got a good strong immune system! And it gets a lot of practice!"

Now Rex he was a Texan out of New Orleans
And he travelled with the carnival shows.
He ran bumper cars, sucked cheap cigars
And he candied up his nose.
He got wind of the big brown beaver
So he thought he'd take himself a peek,
But the beaver was quick
And grabbed him by the kiwis.
Now he ain't pissed for a week.
(And a half!)

Man I'm glad I come in to work early on days like this....it's snowing out, but it hasn't been snowing long. Barely an inch of snow on the highways (and in most places it was just wet) and yet everyone is driving like there's 2" of solid ice on the pavement. And since the snow partially obscures the lines on the highway, this makes people think they can drive as slow as they want right down the middle of a three lane interstate. It's only gonna get uglier as more and more people get out for the morning commute.

I had to break out the manual.. It actually told you to wrap a flat blade screwdriver in a rag and pry off one side.. I was starting to pry thinking.. "Man wtf am I doing" ?

Yep. Some of those push in clips can be tough, it's really easy to scratch or dent the paint. Plus some you pry toward the rear of the car and some go to the side.

I bought a set of plastic pry tools just for stuff like that.
