We do our taxes in March/April (April 30th is last day) and we capture everything on one return.

Got my W-2 at work today, so I filed so I could get it in early :)

The Feds aren't accepting returns until the 18th though which sucks, but at least I have it filed and it will be at the front of the line :)

And down here, Federal and State taxes are all done separately

We call them T-4 slips.We have T-5'S AND T-4A's etc.On one form - All of your income is reported, then you list your deductions, then you realize you've been paying taxes on each 2 week paycheck all year long and also now paying tax on the year end total.

and then you get some booze, it's a painless process

I always get a refund, that's why I file early....I want my money before the government goes broke ;)

We get a break for any yearly mutual funds or RRSP's we buy.I can't afford too much monthly for mutuals to begin with and since they took such a bath the past few years, it's stupid to increase my contributions :|

I don't get to claim anything (dependents, housing, transport) other than some donations and the mutual funds so my returns are pretty lackluster

We get deductions for IRA contributions too...I don't get any (other) deductions either, I'm the most screwed demographic in American taxpayers, I'm single and don't own a home. All I get is the standard deduction from the IRS. It sucks :|

What helps in getting a refund is that I claim zero dependents during the year instead of 1...so they take a lot more i9n taxes out of my check every two weeks.

Nah, I just tweaked it a bunch until I got it to look like the older versions. I can't remember exactly how I did it, I'd have to scour the web looking for the little tips and tricks. I think there was like 1 tip per web page that I actually used.

I take so long to respond because I have to decide if I really want to respond. Then I have to think about what I want to say, then I have to type it out with the lousy two finger typing skills I have, then I have to decide whether or not I want to edit it or not, then I have to tell Lance to shut the hell up, then I have to make edits, then I have to hit "post", then I have to change my mind and edit what I posted some more, and then...
