I cut myself once right under my nose, once by the right corner of my mouth, and once on my chin. After the chin, I said fuck this and grabbed one of my safety razors and finished the job in 2 minutes. It was taking me 10 minutes to do one cheek with the straight.

Funny now that I've been working from home for 2.5 years now...I shave on the weekends and let it grow during the weekdays! They haven't made me put a camera on the laptop yet.

I went to see some live music at our local bandshell. They're having live music there every Saturday for the summer and my friend found out about this and went up and played 3 of his originals, and a scout said "I want to sign you as a writer - I have a country star in my roster who'd love that tune." Ya just never know who you'll meet.

There were these pot smoking guys sitting in front of us waiting on my friend to finish his set who looked like they'd do something from the Nirvana catalog, and when they got up there, out came the fiddles and the purest Bluegrass came out. So nice and eclectic. The next group did fusion Jazz, also did some Albert King, and it was all great. I know what I'm going to be doing with my Saturday afternoons...I forgot how much I love live music.

The safety razors I have only cost me about $35 a piece, but the razor blades only cost $2-$3 per pack. You get one safety razor and a shit load of blades and you're set for years at minimum cost. I get a better shave with them than I ever did with a gillette cartridge razor, mainly because I learned to shave with one of those old safety razors back when I was a teenager.

The straight razor cost about $17 and it takes half razor blades. It's not a real straight, there's no stropping or honing or whatever. I guess there's a learning curve with it, so I'll just keep trying. I can replace my divots.

Where I used to live we had a concrete drainage ditch running along one edge of our property, ending in a raised section in our backyard, near where a row of pine trees lined the back of all the houses on our street. The neighbourhood teens who liked to smoke would congregate there, flinging lit butts on the fallen sap and pine needles and stealing tomatoes from our garden.

One day they took all those stolen tomatoes and flung them on my car. One after another the bastards made a mess. They also made the mistake of doing it while I was looking out the window. I tore out of the house and gave them a hell of a scare.

The parent of one of them later brought her kid to my house. I thought she came to apologize but in fact just wanted to issue propaganda about how her son was good and it was this other 'bad kid' who was at fault.

Mind you, of three boys, it was this supposed 'bad kid' who actually came back to apologize and who cleaned my car. Her 'good' son ran like a coward, abandoned his friends, and only came clean when I tracked him down to where he lived, and never lifted a finger to help clean up the mess. Her attitude really bothered me, and the more I told her about what happened the more ANGRY she grew with me for not kissing her kids ass. Fucking cunt. No wonder your kid is a shit!

This is how it works here in Finland. People are luckily still respective of other peoples property and don't destroy it. They don't come walk right past your window or anything, but try to walk somewhere where it doesn't cause harm. I think it is because of our very extensive "Every man's rights" (Freedom to roam over there) where one bit says:
"The legislature has not set an exact limit on how many meters away from the yard 'the peace of the home' reaches. Everyone has to assess themselves and understand appropriate limits." So since we are taught this and we respect it... we are naturally wired differently.

Thank God common sense is still very much winning here.

If they peek inside your house and get so close they are right under your window, then absolutely something has to be done. I was thinking if they are just harmlessly going through some corner of your property...but if they get that close and not go the straightest route to where they need to go, then that is a bit too much, yes.

Actually, when I was a kid many of the neighbours on our street and the one back of it got together to build fences (the little two and a half foot tall chain link sort). Where ever two parcels of land connected, the neighbours would split the cost of that section of fence. One guy didn't want any part of it, and later on built this massive wooden wall around his backyard. Cooperate or segregate I suppose.
