Lung damage from smoking cannot be reversed. Exercise can improve capacity but the damage caused by smoking will set the boundary for any progress. That's why they cannot do a lot for these old time smokers with COPD, other than give them meds to dilate their air passages and oxygen to reduce the stress on their system.

I can only wonder how much they suffer.

I wouldn't do a LS!. bore size is too small. Step up to one of the iron blocks (if weight isn't too much of a concern) or LS2 or 3 if wallet can handle it. The best heads for the LSX need at least a 4" bore.

Ok, now I'm in a pickle. I got the old tire off but when I tried to get the new tire on, I broke the tool. Cheap plastic piece of shit. For once I wish someone in the medical equipment industry would make something for the sake of helping guys like me instead of just making a fucking buck. Maybe I should just go back to pneumatics. Don't feel like spending an arm and a leg on a friggin' tire tool to put tires on my rims when I'll only use it to do it once every 8-10 years.

Well the officially asked me to stay on past seasonal at work. It doesn't appear they kept many people so it's a nice compliment. I am still hoping the new job comes through and I might stay part time at the current job even if it does, but in the meantime, I have work, so yay.

What other options do you have? Doesn't sound like many except get the tool you need expedited - I would assume fucking up the rim is more expensive than the tool despite only using it once ever 8-10 years.

I've got my Dad's vice out in the garage. I think he had one out there. Or I could always take an unscheduled trip down to my sister's place and drop it in my brother-in-law's lap. I hate putting him on the spot like that though. And I'd have to eat my sister's health-nazi cooking... it's like a rule whenever I visit I have to eat the horrid concoctions she comes up with. I can only take it so many times in a year. I'm not sure it's worth it. Anyway, I can get that tool for less than $25 off of several websites. You might be able to get it with a couple screwdrivers and some muscle. Is silicone spray recommended? I would think that would make the tire spin on the rim. We often use soapy water or window cleaner for similar stuff at work.

So, his PC died yesterday (luckily he is out of town) and I am getting his new PC ready (installing software, updates, transferring files, etc) and when he comes in it will be all kinds of questions and problems because his old PC was the last one in the shop running XP and the new one is Win7....and he doesn't do well with change or new-ness :|

I don't know about the screwdriver method. I tried it before and my shoulder was screaming in pain for a few days after. I'm sure it works for people who stand up, but I was gonna try this dude's method:

The tires I'm trying to get on are airless. Solid urethane/rubber. To get wheels with solid tires already installed would be cost prohibitive.

I have never seen winter wheelchair tires. But I have slipped around in a wheelchair on ice... on a sharp decline angled sidewalk... going towards a busy 4-way intersection. Talk about fun!

That's what I was thinking about...I'm driving a thousand pound car with winter treads and slide when I tap my brakes going downhill at 20 kph..and the grade is like 15 degrees :lol:
