My mom recently had her furnace and A/C replaced. Lowest to highest quote differences were about $6000. Name brands added a lot to the quote and she figured out that you can get a lesser known brand that is made by the same company as a name brand and save a lot of money. Well that was her theory at least.

So far the quotes have both been from brand name companies (Honeywell and Rheem) and they are about $2000 apart.

To be fair, the Honeywell guy gave me three different options and his most expensive option is equal to the single price quoted to me by Rheem. So far the Honeywell guy though seems to have been the most thorough in doing the inspection and completing the quote.

Just got off the phone with someone looking to get machining work done....goes thru the whole BS of what he needs, wants a price on the phone. I tell him I can't do anything without a CAD file or seeing the parts first. Then he asks where we are and I give him the cross streets so he can map it out. Did he not think that the 303 area code for metro Denver seemed odd if he was looking for a local shop? Or did he not look farther down the Contact Us page and see that we are located in Colorado?

He was a Brit and could play Zep songs eerily like John Bonham. He also played with the biggest shite-eating grin I've ever seen :lol: He looked just happy to be there...
