Weird. Someone was at the door, knocking and ringing the bell. I yelled "hang on a sec" (my hands were full) and about a minute later when I went to the door after putting my junk down, they were driving away. It looked like a county utility truck.

I wonder if they did a meter inspection or something.

I don't think it's any secret that I have a Psychologist I have been working with for 3 years. What you may not know if she's a very attractive woman. Always professional and usually dressed appropriately and conservatively, normally with hair pulled up. Well today she walked into the waiting room, and my jaw about dropped. Hair down and straightened, black leggings and a tight tank top covered by a very sheer blouse, and knee high boots. Yowza did she look smoking hot! And since there are no secrets, and the end of the session I told her so.

So Taylor Swift stated in her acceptance speech that her winning the award for best performer of the year validated that people must "love like her." God I hope not!

An alternative view could be that you write pop songs but get classified as a country artist (you're not) which makes your voting audience bigger and you seem more talented and popular than you really are.

then I'm sitting there in PJs at like 8:30 and the phone rings.

"its a fucking SLAYERmergency, bro, get ready, I'm on my way to pick you up right now"

fuck. well, okay. if its Slayer, how can I say no. last I saw 'em was 2001 with pantera.

$5 pit upgrade was a good deal.

3, 4 beers, pit area was small enough that you were basically in it, so after taking one good elbow to the ribs, then its like ok, guess I gotta be in pit mode

my feet are fuggin STOMPED, especially my big toes

it was a good pit though, anyone that fell had 4 people immediately helping 'em back up, was very conspicuously free of dickheads that just looks to hurt people.

got a LOT of exercise in yesterday...good enough that I soaked both shirts, pants and everything totally through with sweat.

fun fun. no fuggin way I am making it into the office today though  and I cant even find anyone to tell hey, I'm going to work from home today

And Hal...about counting inventory. I remember after I did such a bang-up job of updating cash registers to be Y2K compliant, I then was hired to count inventory for Sanyo...to close the branch office in Richmond down, but I couldn't tell the rest of the employees!

So look deceitful and infer that there are reasons why you need an accurate count... :demon:

Loved that job...supervised people to put chips in cash registers, then counted inventory. Had a few dates with an lovely lady co-worker of Chinese heritage, but we only lasted 3 dates because he father would have disapproved! But, I eventually got a good friend out of the deal.

She let me in on a secret - all the female office workers were trying to "out-slut" each other by wearing sexy-but-not-too sexy work attire and points were made when they got looks from the guys. Would never happen now!

the boiling soup made the glass explode? yikes ....

here's a story you may appreciate - back in the day we used to get 28 grams of oil in film containers. We'd put the container in heated water to pour vials....so I go over to my bud's place and I see this green paint explosion all over his walls, curtains and kitchen appliances. I ask wtf and he says - I thought I'd save time and put the film container in my electric popcorn maker to heat it up...without the lid to the film container.

the heated convex air turned it into a whirlwind/tornado of lovely green oil  I was laughing so hard I had to go outside

Im a Very negative guy tonight..a good friends aunt is at deaths door...just admitted to hospital. Heard some encouraging reports, then the news that her son just had a heart attack and died...he wasn't even 60 and was about to retire from the post office this month.

'Cause all the dreams you never thought you'd lose
Got tossed along the way
And letters that you never meant to send
Got lost or thrown away.

And now we're grown up orphans
That never knew their names.
We don't belong to no one,
That's a shame.
But you could hide beside me.
Maybe for a while
And I won't tell no one your name.
And I won't tell 'em your name.

We are slowing down as usual. People will wait til after the new year to get their cars fixed. Plus they are way more likely to use the insurance check for xmas shopping instead of fixing that dent.

The good news this year though is we have 4 techs to split work up between but everyone has vacations the next few weeks. Fewer techs = more work for me.

There will be someone off every day until after the new year.

Thanks for the reminder, Pony...just booked my van in for an oil change and a scuffing sound that started yesterday when I decelerate - doesn't happen when on the gas or the brakes. I'm thinking it's the wear indicator making its presence known. Bought the van used 2 years ago, and last year my mechanic said the brakes were OK still. My mechanic (been going there for 25 years+) was partnered with someone...he left and was going crazy doing it all solitary. Now he's hired another guy...sounds like he knows his stuff on the phone at least.

I had no idea, but this is absolutely true:

When you invest in stocks, you are not guaranteed to receive any dividends. Dividend payouts are at the discretion of the stock issuer.

For example, Microsoft did not payout dividends on their stocks for the first 20-25 years of their existence.

Sure, I don't dispute that. I'm just surprised that stock issuers are under no contractual obligation to their shareholders. It's completely discretionary.

I'm taking a Finance MOOC and we're going over stocks and equity right now.

PorkChopSandwiches
12-10-2013, 07:22 PM
There are companies who feel they can better use that money to grow the company and make bigger profits which would be reflected in the stock price then giving it out. When it works out it good for everyone. Some people with plenty to invest with prefer the payouts which they use as spending money.

You might be right.

Frame is probably OK but it needs a quarter panel and possibly a rear body panel. The floor might also have been sucked up so it at least needs to go on the frame rack to pull everything back down. Due to the age of the car it might be totaled. Depends on the insurance value and the price of parts.

It's definitely fixable, the issue is it's 13 years old and was a "budget" car when new. It's just not valued at that much. It is a shame to send a drivable car to the boneyard though.
If it totals he could always tell the Ins. Co he wants to keep it and find some shop to put it on the frame machine, weld a plate on the quarter to half-assed straighten it and throw a bumper on it. You'll still see damage on the quarter but he would put some money in his pocket.

Or just drive it as is and keep the money....

that's pretty typical up here...what looks like minor quarter panel or bumper damage still costs thousands :(

on a related note, our city has had 3200 reported damage claims for car accidents since Dec 1 because of a combination of shit weather conditions in a brief time..

Honda's keep their values really well, but when I was smacked from behind back in 08, the dude's insurance was only willing to give me $4800 for my Civic. They wouldn't even talk about a repair. My entire back end was destroyed though. Frame damage and all. The trunk was full of itself. Mine was 11 years old and I took really good care of it, plus I had some aftermarket parts on it. I guess I was lucky to get what I did.

But still, it was a pain in the ass I didn't want to deal with at the time.

i dropped it off at one of the "approved" collision centers that their insurance recommended. since i am not paying anything for this, i wasn't going to go looking around. it is going to be an interesting decision to make if they total it out and offer to give me what they think it is worth, because we have taken really good care of this thing and my intention was to run it into the ground before getting something else.

Shit, I wouldn't have recommended using their "approved" shop. Depending on the insurance company that could be bad news. Certain insurance companies force the shops to do sub-par work and use inferior parts in exchange for being on their referral program.
The insurance company writes a crappy estimate and if the shop supplements additional damage that was missed or poorly written they get a black mark on their record. Enough black marks and the shop can get thrown off the program. The InsCo's use this as a threat to keep repairs cheap, not necessarily proper.

In other words if it's a Progressive or Geico claim, pray they total it or that the shop values quality over money.

apparently the cost for repairs is now down to around $3100, which i guess they are going to cover (american family insurance) and go ahead with the repair. i think this repair place is by far the most reputable of the three they recommended. sounds like it might be 2-3 weeks before my car is back though

As long as they're paying for the rental, then fuck them. Let the kid's parents take the hit to their insurance as hard as it can hit them.

I don't know if this is good advice or not, but after what Pony said about them doing a shit job on repairs to cut costs, you might want to take your car to your own mechanic when you get it back and see if he can tell you what they short changed you on, if they did at all. I'm not sure what it would prove, but if it were me, I'd want to know.

after reading this from imdb

There is a seven-minute lesbian sex scene which is graphic and shows intimate close-ups of two lesbian lovers engaged in passionate and energetic sex. Cunnilingus is shown with the mouth on the vulva. Buttocks and rimming are shown realistically. The two women engage in lengthy sixty-nine. Scissoring is also shown. One woman orally pleasures another for a long time. Lots of saliva is shown. Women are shown sucking and kissing each other's breasts. Orgasms are shown. Explicit shots of the female vulva are shown later in the scene.

Considering the entire movie is about a lesbian love affair, and done rather explicitly, that can be expected, yes.

I'm with Hal. But I think in the US they made them cut a lot out to get an R rating. So if you find the directors cut. Or any non-US cut. Point me in the right direction

Up here even on my lame workplan they pay 80 or 90%, although it does depend on the drug. I've been prescribed some heavyduty shite that I had to pay about 80%....the two prescriptions were unique tho..

one of the few things on this topic that Deep was absolutely spot on about - this is *not* fkn insurance. this is "healthcare financing." because it disobeys pretty much every tenet of what insurance actually is. (and where we all knew deep's logic failed completely was that he wanted us to go all in on single payer healthcare finance, and still call it insurance, yet quietly acknowledge it was no such thing. whereas the rest of us with sane classical American values would rather us see a return to actual healthcare insurance, and to hell with the healthcare finance racket altogether.)

there's an esoterically relevant reason why they replaced the Rod of Asclepius with the Caduceus.

In Roman iconography it was often depicted being carried in the left hand of Mercury, the messenger of the gods, guide of the dead and protector of merchants, shepherds, gamblers, liars, and thieves.

The original Hippocratic Oath began with the invocation "I swear by Apollo the Physician and by Asclepius and by Hygieia and Panacea and by all the gods ..."

Asclepius is the god of health, healing, and medicine.

Hermes is the guy that shows up and gives you the bad news.

Coincidence?

I took my first stab at making a pie this weekend. I can't find good apple pie anywhere and I can always remember how good my mom's apple pie was when she made, so I gave it a try....

And I have to say other than looking a bit rough around the edges, it came out pretty damn good for my first attempt.
