Lady Gaga is the latest celeb getting questioned about her charity's finances, with records showing she spent almost $2 million in expenses in 2012, while doling out just four figures in grants.
As first reported by Showbiz411.com, the Born This Way Foundation's 2012 form 990, which names Stefani Germanotta (a.k.a Lady Gaga) as its director, her mother Cynthia as its president and her father Joseph as its treasurer, claimed total revenue of $2.66 million, $1.85 million of which went to operational expenses.
So where did the money go? The 501(c)(3) organization spent $406,552 on legal expenses, $348,000 on event production, $150,000 on philanthropic consulting and $77,923 on travel.
In terms of grants, the foundation lists just one $5,000 gift in 2012.
Born This Way, founded in 2011, aims to at “connecting youth in safe ways and empowering them with skills and opportunities that will inspire them to create a kinder and braver world.”
In 2012, the foundation states its biggest project was the setting up the Born Brave Bus Tour, which occurred in 2013. During the tour, the bus stopped at 23 locations and met with more than 20,000 people, according to the foundation’s website.
Last year, Gaga’s mother explained the bus tour experience to VH1, telling the site, “This side of the bus we have different kiosks where they can learn about the foundation, about our partners and the services that they offer and also we have an amazing map where they can learn about organizations in their communities."
Gaga tweeted around the time of the bus tour’s launch that the foundation would offer counseling on the tour.
"For those wondering about the 'counseling' at the BTWBall BornBrave pre-show, it will be a fun tailgaiting experience for Monsters to unite," Gaga tweeted at the time. "At the BornBrave Bus, you have access to professional private or group chats about mental health, bullying, school and friends."
According to the charity’s records, none of the money spent in 2012 went to Gaga or her family. The form states “none of the directors and officers were compensated” for their work.
Gaga is not the first celeb to face scrutiny over charity records. Last year, ESPN's Outside the Lines reported that Khloe Kardashian and Lamar Odom's charity, Cathy's Kids, had raised approximately $2.2 million since it was created in 2004 but had yet to give out a cent to cancer-related causes.
Jane Fonda faced a similar problem in 2013 when documents first published on The Smoking Gun showed her $800,000 charity hadn't made a donation since 2006.
A rep for the singer did not immediately return FOX411’s request for comment.
