... there was this guy not 40 minutes ago in the ditch behind my house, wearing a red hoodie just kind of hanging around. I didn't see his face and I guess he saw me watching him because he didn't stick around. Now the ditch technically isn't my property, but it is right behind my backyard and I didn't like the look of a guy hanging around just off of my backyard wearing a hoodie in 92°F weather.

Yeah, I'm thinking I need a shotgun.

:-k

I wonder if Lance has one that I can borrow.

Well, I guess that fits me because I've never shot a gun in my life and if I had to shoot a gun without any experience, I'd rather not miss.

Our house has an alley behind, no fence and then a park.A school is about 200 meters away.

Every night I seem to see undesirables lurking in the alley, park and school parking lot.

Just last week 2 houses beside me got broken into and our garage door was kicked in at the bottom...about 1/2 inch from being opened by force.

DGX....go right on out there and do something innocuous.I find that once the dudes know that they're being watched, they tend to split.

Can I get it for less than $250? I have car insurance due at the end of the month.

If I was thinking (which I don't tend to do very well until after 8pm), I would have rolled out there with my katana unsheathed and yelled, "What's up, biotch?!?"

You can borrow my shotgun if you want. Rat shot would do the trick, but Pony's idea isn't bad and you could throw out some firecrackers and go outside and start acting freaky at the same time and the hoodie guy will likely split.

He was probably casing the joint...Do you have a dog? Or get a "beware of dog" sign. Good visual as well as physical deterrent. Another old habit, when I leave the house and see someone lurking about, I'll reopen the front door and say "see ya later" - to make it look still occupied.

We'd have what we called "shitrats" wandering in our backyard at night - what cured them was a false camera mounted at the corner and a motion sensor light. Scared away the racoons, too! :)

Yeah, I know he was casing the house. That's why I haven't slept yet. I'm waiting to see if he comes around again. I'm going to yell like a maniac if I see him out there, with my Japanese sword in one hand and my cellphone in the other.

Costs of trips to the vet, shots, food, plus medications, plus whatever > cost of 12 gauge slugs

Besides, I don't have a fence and I don't feel like buying one right now.

If the dude was homeless, he wouldn't be anywhere near my place. I live in Bum Fuck Egypt, East Jabip. Tucked away, far removed from anything. It's infeasible for someone that doesn't reside around here to come down here to rob the development.

Ok.. Get the pit bull AND the used 12 gauge..

Chain the pit bull to the outside of the house...

When the guy comes back the pit bull will attack and kill the intruder, so you dont go to jail for murder.

Once the pit bull has attacked and killed the man, you go outside and shoot the pit bull so you dont have to take it to the vet or feed it.. (the cops are prolly gonna put it down anyway)

Problem solved.

if you wanna shoot a large caliber make sure the hand brake on your wheelchair is released, otherwise the recoil will be quite uncomfortable.

I don't have any brakes. I fully expect putting at the very least an extra 2 feet between me and the person I'm shooting at, everytime I pull the trigger.

Another house was robbed around the corner from me. The funny thing is, the robbers (who are 2 kids in their late teens/early 20s) were turned in by their own mother. She found the loot in her car and called the police, telling them there was stuff in her car that didn't belong to her. The police came over, questioned, and arrested her kids. Apparently, it was stuff from two different houses, one around the corner from me. This isn't the first time they were caught either. These were the same kids that were arrested for robbing the house down the street from me six months ago. Let's hope they get thrown in jail for a while now.

I can't help but think of how rotten it must feel to have to turn in your own kids to the police. She's obviously a good person if she called the police after finding shit in her car that didn't belong to her, right?

:-s

In any case, I do know their names now.
