I've been told for almost 10 years that forum relationships are not real...that they don't mean anything, that they can be dropped at any time without regret...

and in turn I've shared some personal things and been called ..a drama queen, too serious, that I have a thin skin....when I've shared some of the toughest things that happened in my life. At the time you guys were my support, my outlet, my port in a storm of a world of shit...and I got called those things, during those times...

so I adapted, I adopted and became like the rest of you....I used to believe (and argue the point) that these forum relationships were no different than other relationships...and I used to believe that quite strongly...

but let's face it....if something serious happened to one of us and all of sudden User_01 went dark....it's not like the immediate family would think to saddle up to a forum, log on and give everyone an explanation as to what happened...they would be handling more important things in life...we would never know what happened to User_01....which is sad, but unfortunately the nature of the way we communicate.

So when I say that I don't know any of you it's me in full on protective mode...because at one time I did consider you all my friends, hated when we argued and shared and said things I would never say face to face to other people :lol:


for example I remember a lot of things...my first interaction with Muddy Hagar was in a thread about the death of MLK's wife and it could have went a lot worse than it did..we found common ground and became friends after the initial incident :thumbsup:

Really though, Hal.. When one of us isn't on there's quite a bit off "where is so and so" and "I hope so and so is ok".. Obviously there's a certain level of being removed from each others lives physically.. But really I think this place is helpful to us all.. In ways we may not even understand..

all that being said above....if I was with someone from here in person, and something shitty was happening to them...I know that I would stand for them/protect them/do what was necessary to get them out of shit....and I'd do it without hesitation or fear. In the very least I'd try to provide comfort or lend a real shoulder...

that's probably the best way to explain how I perceive and relate to people that I've known online for years....they become a part of you..and in my world, friends get treated like relatives, which in turn get everything I can give them at the time....
