A teenager has been arrested for allegedly photographing himself sexually assaulting a baby girl after authorities appealed to the public for help identifying him.

The man allegedly had sexual contact with the girl, who was thought to be between about one at the time, in April last year, Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials said.

On Tuesday, they released information and three photographs appealing for information and on Thursday they announced that the suspect was arrested within 30 hours of their appeal.

But they added that no further information, including his name, would be released because he is a juvenile.

After studying the images, authorities said they believed the man lived in North Texas or may have visited in April last year.

In their press release, they added that he was wearing a baseball cap that said 'Shut Up N Play' - a new logo that had not been released and had a limited distribution in North Texas at the time.

The man was found as part of Operation Predator, an international initiative to protect children from sexual predators that had arrested more than 10,000 people since its launch in 2003.

NBCDFW reported that the man is sought on top of 14 arrests made following Operation Round Table, run by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Homeland Security Investigations team.

Through the investigation, authorities identified and contacted more than 250 victims of an Internet child pornography ring.

'Many of the victims were not aware that they were even exploited and that their images were being recorded and subsequently shared by predators globally,' David Marwell, special agent in charge of ICE Homeland Security Investigations Dallas office, told NBC.

In this latest case, HSI Dallas investigators were unable to identify the suspect with its traditional investigative means and are now asking for the public's help.

They also shared the information and photos with fellow law enforcement agencies and the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children to track down and help the child.
