Shootings in Chicago left at least 11 people injured since Saturday night, according to authorities.
Authorities initially said a 19-year-old man fired on by police during a chase on the South Side suffered a graze wound to the elbow, which would have brought the total number of people shot to at least 12. About 7 a.m. this morning police said they determined the man's injury was not a gunshot wound.
Three of the injured were shot about 2:25 a.m. in the 6100 block of South Normal Avenue in the Englewood neighborhood on the South Side, Chicago Police Department News Affairs Officer Ron Gaines said.
The three men shot there were outside on the block when they heard gunfire and each realized they had been shot, Gaines said.
The youngest among them, a 36-year-old man, was shot in the thigh. The oldest, a 42-year-old, was shot in the ankle, Gaines said. A 39-year-old man was shot in the calf.
All three men were listed in good condition at St. Bernard Hospital and Health Care Center, Gaines said.
In the most recent shooting, a 25-year-old man was shot by an acquaintance who had driven him to a party about 4:30 a.m. in the Hegewisch area, said Police News Affairs Officer Thomas Sweeney.
The man was driven to the 13600 block of South Brainard Avenue by an acquaintance and when they arrived, the man offered to give the acquaintance money for the ride, Sweeney said. The driver instead took out a gun and demanded all the man's money, and when he handed it over, shot him in the left arm.
The victim was taken to St. Margaret Mercy hospital in Hammond, where he was initially in good condition.
In other shootings:
• Two women were shot while sitting in a vehicle in the 11800 block of South Parnell Avenue in the West Pullman neighborhood on the Far South Side, Gaines said. About 3:55 a.m. a van pulled alongside the women's vehicle and someone inside started shooting, according to police.
One of the women, 36, was struck in the side and taken in serious condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn. The other woman, 33, was shot in the arm and taken in good condition to MetroSouth Medical Center in Blue Island.
• A 23-year-old man was shot in the arm about 1:05 a.m. in the 700 block of North Green Street in the River West neighborhood on the Near West Side, News Affairs Officer Janel Sedevic said. Someone drove the man to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he was treated and released.
After leaving the hospital, the 24-year-old driver returned to the area where the shooting happened. About 1:30 a.m., the driver was himself shot in the elbow in the 900 block of West Chicago Avenue in the Goose Island neighborhood, police said. The driver then apparently drove himself back to Northwestern, where he was treated and released, police said.
• About 3:20 a.m. a 30-year-old man was shot while sitting inside a vehicle in the 2900 block of West Cortland Street in the Logan Square neighborhood on the Northwest Side. Someone in a gold-colored car fired shots from behind, striking the man in the hand, police said. He was taken to John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County, where his condition was stabilized.
• About 10:25 p.m., two women were shot in the 600 block of West 124th Street in West Pullman, News Affairs Officer Ron Gaines said. The women, who are 24 and 28 years old, were sitting in a vehicle when they heard gunfire and realized they were shot, Gaines said. The 24-year-old was struck in the knee, and the 28-year-old was struck in the foot, Gaines said. Both were listed in good condition at Roseland Community Hospital.
