Less than a week after the first day of spring began bringing children to Quad-City parks, a 2-year-old boy was injured Monday when he was cut by razor blades that had been glued to playground equipment in an East Moline park, police said.
East Moline Police Lt. Brian Foltz said the child suffered a minor laceration to his finger and that his father took him home and treated him there.
Police spent several hours Monday afternoon and evening searching the city's 15 parks after 12 razor blades were found glued to playground equipment at Millennium Park, 5101 Archer Drive.
Officers discovered another incident of vandalism at a nearby park, but Foltz said he was not sure if the two were related.
"We're always doing park checks," he said.
Police responded to Millennium Park at 12:45 p.m. after receiving a report about the razor blades.
Foltz said police weren't sure how long the razor blades were there. He also had no information on a possible suspect or suspects.
Officers removed the razor blades and collected other evidence, Capt. John Reynolds said.

Millennium Park, East Moline's newest park, was built in 2000. Its wooden jungle gym includes a climbing wall, tree fort, tire swings, multiple bridges, slides and swings. It is open from 6 a.m. to dusk daily.
East Moline resident Faye Jacobson took her 4-year-old granddaughter to an indoor playground Monday at Burger King, 1222 Avenue of The Cities, less than half of a mile northwest of Millennium Park.
"We come here a lot," Jacobson said. " It's a warm place to play and one of the few safe places to play around here."
Jacobson said she frequents many of the city's parks with her seven grandchildren, but has stayed out of Millennium Park in recent years.
"It's nice, but after hours, it turns into a teenage playground," she said, adding that she enjoys taking her grandchildren to East Moline's Fire Station Tot Lot, adjacent to the fire station on 42nd Avenue and 9th Street.
