“Though sometimes not treated with seriousness he deserves, Combs has had a profound effect on global culture of the last twenty years,” reads the course description for “Sean Combs & Urban Culture.”
“Through critical readings, viewings and listening assignments, the brilliance, tragedy, strategy and serial entrepreneurship of Sean Combs will be interpreted, discussed and dissected,” it continues.
The two-credit course will begin on Friday, according to NYU’s official website. It is a History & Criticism class through the school’s Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music.
The institute did not respond to requests for an interview with the instructor, Jayson Jackson, in time for publication.
