SAN ANTONIO — A Memorial High School science teacher who acknowledged impregnating a student has been charged with sexual assault of a child.
Marcus Revilla, 44, began a sexual relationship with one of his students when she was 15 years old, says an arrest warrant affidavit filed by the Edgewood Independent School District Police Department.
He resigned Wednesday — one day before his arrest.
The girl, now 16 and more than four months pregnant, told police they first had sex last September at Revilla's home on the Northwest Side. They have had sex more than 20 times since, she said.
Revilla told authorities he knew how old the girl was, the affidavit states. He also told police he didn't want to go to jail because he wanted to provide for their baby.
The two would talk, text and email daily on a cellphone Revilla bought the teen, the warrant says.
A “concerned student” reported the teacher Wednesday, a statement from Edgewood spokesman Roland Martinez says.
“This is a case of a student taking care of another student by alerting school administration,” Martinez wrote.
Police told Revilla not to contact the girl further, but he had several conversations with her after that, the warrant said.
Bexar County Child Safe is going to interview the girl. Revilla is being held in Bexar County Jail in lieu of posting $75,000 bail.
