YouTube user JJYowie Search released a video Thursday that purportedly reveals the animal hiding behind the bushes of the Australian wilderness.
The footage, taken by a tree cam last February, allegedly shows what the J & J Yowie Search organization believe to be a “young Yowie”, also known as the Australian Bigfoot.
“Watch how it moves side to side the way it lifts its head as it looks at the apples on the rock,” the group said on their description of the video.
The animal’s eyes shine “as it concerntrates on the apples, taking no notice of the infrared from the tree camera,” they added.
The founders of the Yowie Research group, Jason and Jason, say they started looking for the cryptid in 2012. They say they have searched for the creature across most of Queensland and New South Wales National Parks, although they “would like to travel to the US in Search of Sasquatch too.”
According to the pair, they have experienced many signs of Yowie before, like “growling, rocks thrown, tree branches snapped, strange smells, felt as if we are being watched, seen many foot prints, felt like being followed walking out in the middle of no where late at night.”
Even though the creature on the video certainly resembles a sloth, these animals are not native to any region of Australia and they are illegal to have as pets. The possibility of the video showing a big unidentified ape remains open.
In the 1970s, two of Australia’s chilliest Yowie sightings were documented by the local press.
