CAÑON CITY, Colo. — A juvenile female attended an alleged underage drinking party with a 21-month-old baby Saturday, according to a statement of probable cause issued by the Cañon City Police Department.
The document stated that Saturday night’s party had 24 juveniles in attendance, as reported by Cañon City’s Daily Record. Four of the attendees were 14-years-olds, who were issued summons for underage possession/consumption of ethyl alcohol. There were also 12 adults, who were at least 18, but under the legal age of 21. These 12 individuals were arrested for underage possession/consumption of ethyl alcohol.
One juvenile male was taken to St. Thomas More Hospital Saturday evening after officers found him on the floor unconscious, said the probable cause statement. The document listed his blood alcohol content as .260.
Additionally, the document said law enforcement contacted the Department of Human Services after discovering a 21-month-old baby asleep in an upstairs room with liquor bottles and marijuana pipes scattered on the floor.
The juvenile mother of the baby told police she was downstairs and had been consuming both alcohol and pot.
Officers cited the mother, according to the probable cause statement, and then sent her and the baby to stay with her grandmother.
Police arrested Corvet Griffin, 23 of Cañon City — the underage drinking party allegedly happened at her residence in the 1900 block of N. Ninth Street.
She was advised of her charges in a Fremont County courtroom Monday.
According to the Daily Record, her charges include contributing to the delinquency of a minor, five counts of child abuse, reckless endangerment and obstructing a peace officer — she faces 24 counts in total.
Griffin’s charges will be formally filed at 9 a.m. April 24.
