WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – A woman whose two young sons died in a bathroom flooded with scalding water while she was in a drug-induced stupor is trying to get her infant daughter back from New York child-welfare authorities, saying she's turned her life around.
The Journal News says in a story published Sunday that Luz Arroyo's lawyer is asking a Westchester Family Court judge to return Arroyo's 2-month-old daughter. The baby, named Spiritual, is in foster care.
The 34-year-old Arroyo pleaded guilty to criminally negligent homicide in the 2005 deaths of her sons, both younger than 3. She spent about two years in prison.
Lawyer David Sachs says Arroyo is "a completely different person" now.
A county government spokesman declined to comment. But a Yonkers detective worries about trusting Arroyo with another baby.
