KANSAS CITY, KS (KCTV) -

Students saw a shocking sight, a pornographic picture, in a JC Harmon High School classroom and the students ended up getting in big trouble.

The pornography was reportedly on the teacher's laptop at JC Harmon, located off of Steele Road in Kansas City, KS. When he turned on the projector there it was, but that picture put in motion a chain of events that led to the suspension of at least two students and made their parents furious.

"When she came home from school she was crying her eyes out, unable to speak about what had happened," Laura Lester said. "It was very upsetting that this is happening when our kids are in school, when they are supposed to be learning."

"I believe my son got in trouble because the school was trying to hide something," Karen Winkel said.

It was first hour biology class for Lester's freshman daughter.

"The picture was a pornographic picture," Winkel said.

According to the girl, when her teacher turned on the overhead projector which runs off his computer, a pornographic snap shot for a website appeared. Stunned and extremely uncomfortable Lester said her daughter took a picture. It shows the laptop and projector and, in the background, there's an image of a naked woman in a compromising position from behind.

"I know my daughter was very uncomfortable," Lester said.

Lester said her daughter sent the picture to her boyfriend and asked what to do. Winkel's son then sent the picture to a friend.

It's believed the friend posted the picture to his private Facebook page. After being pulled out of class twice that day, both Winkel and Lester's children were suspended for two days.

"For inappropriate use of electronics. I have no idea (what that's supposed to mean). I tried to run it through my mind and understand. She was on her own cell phone," Lester said.

Both parents said they tried to talk to school administrators about appealing the decision. Their students are members of the honor roll who do not want a suspension on their permanent record.

"That's the most upsetting, that she's looking into colleges and looking at a bright future and this is going to follow her, what this teacher did," Lester said.

When the parents couldn't get answers at school they consulted an attorney, but under Kansas law they have no real recourse on reversing the suspension. They agreed to waive their children's privacy rights with the school, but still officials say they can't talk to KCTV5. School officials did say they would be willing to sit down with the parents again.

The teacher whose computer the porn was on has been employed with Kansas City, KS Public Schools since 2002. The district said it's their policy to place an employee on paid leave pending the outcome of an investigation.
