The Instagram photo shows the back of a tanned, blonde woman, sitting in the grass overlooking a crystal blue ocean, wearing just a pair of black underwear.
'Live a little,' 32-year-old American model Erin Wasson captioned the photograph of herself she posted to her Instagram account on Sunday.
However, comments on the worrying image, which shows Wasson’s protruding rib cage, have been largely negative with fans hitting out at her for being too skinny.

The photo was liked over 4,000 times in three hours, but comments were not very positive.
'So skinny. Love her back,' wrote one follower.
But another immediately answered, 'Love her back!? She's a skeleton!'
Other comments included, 'Ribs ... eat a little!' and simply, 'eatmorefood.com'
The 32-year old model, who has appeared numerous times on international editions of Vogue, has previously claimed she has always been bullied for being too thin.
And it's clear she feels she looked great in the Van Gogh-like photo she posted on Sunday.

'I remember I was tormented for being flat-chested and really skinny, and I had really short hair because I would go to the barber and get my hair cut with my dad, so people always thought that I looked really butch,' she once told Sydney's Daily Telegraph.
'I think, more than anything at this point in my career, my responsibility is to stay strong - mind, body and soul ...,' said the runway model who was called 'scary skinny' by the Huffington Post in 2013.
She added: 'I've always been an athletic person, I’ve been blessed with good genes from my mum and dad and I’m going to ride that genetic wave for as long as I can.'
