Police in Oklahoma City are investigating an alleged sexual assault at an elementary school after a 10-year-old girl said she was held down by a female classmate while the classmate’s 8-year-old brother raped her.

The victim’s mother was waiting in the pick-up line outside of Edgemere Elementary school when the girl ran out to tell her what had happened, according to KFOR 4, Oklahoma City.

According to the girl’s mother, the victim was crying as she ran out to the car.

“She came out with her knees and hands shaking and crying,” said the girl’s mother who was not identified. “I jumped out of the car and asked her what was wrong and she said ‘mama they touched me down there.’”

According to the girl she went to the bathroom after the school day ended, where she was confronted by a 10-year old classmate and her 8-year-old bother.

“The little boy pulled his pants down, pulled her pants down.” said the mother, adding that the sister held the victim down while her younger brother raped her.

The mother said that her daughter screamed, but was told that if she wasn’t quiet she would be beaten up.

“She said ‘it’s two of them mama, so I listened,’” the mother said.

Police were called and escorted the girl and her mother to the hospital where a rape exam was conducted confirming injuries consistent with a sexual assault.

The victim’s mother said of the assault that there is blame to go around.

“I’m not blaming just the kids,” she said. “I blame the teachers, the people who are supposed to protect our kids when they’re at school.’

8 year olds that think about and plan a rape are never going to turn out into productive members of society

I often wonder......

If our info-drenched society has anything to do with these sorts of actions...hear me out...

It's said that each generation grows up faster than the previous one. I believe this and see evidence of it.

Is it possible that with all of this information available to anyone's fingertips... does that hasten the 'maturity' process? (I'm using that term very loosely..)

eg What was once verboten to even think about for children (bare naked ladies, oh my!) was at a times made all the more forbidden because as a child, we rarely saw it...and when we did, OH BOY did it have an effect on us  I'm not only talking about images, communications in general, TV etc.

I know most will say - Hey, it's the parents hal, they have to give and teach a good foundation for morals and values!... which I do agree with 100%. But isn't the world changing by the month, in terms of what children can access? I'm thinking of digital info coupled with Little Jimmy saying - Hey Timmy, you're already 8 and you haven't fingered a girl yet? C'mon man get with it, it's 2014 ffs you damn poofter!

:-k there is a connection I think, I'm just not articulating it properly

I see no reason for kids beneath high school age to have computers and smart phones (I really don't see why kids below 18 need a smart phone period... hell, most adults don't need smart phones). Kids should be outside playing with friends, playing sports, and doing yard chores for their parents. Give them a simple cell phone with geolocation tech for emergency situations and limited ability to make or receive random calls to whoever whenever. They certainly don't need free reign on the internet.

i sometimes feel bad having to justify why i don't let my 10 and 8 year old have free reign on the computer or their own phones. but then i just show my flip phone and people seem to back off pretty quickly at that point

Why do you have justify anything to anybody? You're their father. The buck stops with you.
