A hardcore raver ‘skanked it out for half an hour’ after losing his little finger at an illegal party.
The attendee said he carried on dancing in the abandoned Royal Mail depot in East Croydon because ‘the bass was hard’, ‘the music was popping’ and ‘there were fit girls around’.
Thousands of people swarmed to the rave on Saturday which has claimed a life, injured many and is currently being treated as a crime scene by police.
In an interview with VICE the teen said he had jumped up to try and rip off a fire alarm but got his finger caught in the process. His pinky was torn off instead.
He said: ‘I looked at my hand and my little finger was gone – the bone was sticking out. It’s the weirdest feeling.’
Asked why he carried on dancing, he added: ‘Well, what can you do? There are fit girls around you, the bass is hard, the music is popping. I didn’t want to be the sore thumb sticking out – or the sore pinky – so I was like, “f**k it, let’s skank on and enjoy it”.’
The 16-year-old posted a photo on Instagram of his hand as he recovered in hospital with the severed digit. His remaining fingers are clasping a cigarette.
A message underneath reads: ‘Rave f****d me up #rumnbass want my finger back…#s**t #happens.’
