A Harrisburg man is facing charges after police say he impersonated an officer while robbing a prostitute in May.
Johnnie M. Shingler, 27, is charged with robbery, impersonating a public servant and patronizing a prostitute. He was arraigned and placed in Dauphin County Prison in lieu of $10,000 bail on June 6, according to court documents.
Susquehanna Township Police say on May 6, Shingler answered an ad on a local website in which a woman was offering services as a prostitute. He went to a hotel on the 4100 block of North Front Street and paid $100 for services, according to police.
Afterwards, police say Shingler displayed a handgun and told the woman he was a detective, meanwhile demanding back the $100 he had paid her. He then left the hotel, police say.
Shingler was interviewed after the incident and admitted to the allegations, according to police. He is scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing on Aug. 14, according to court documents.
