A girl dubbed the ‘real-life Goldilocks’ is facing charges after breaking into a house and taking a shower, eating some food and going to sleep.
Chancy Layton, 19, entered the home of a couple in St Augustine Beach, Florida, after allegedly being told by a friend that the balcony door would be unlocked.
Layton told police the friend, known only as ‘Jeremy’, broke in before she did and took two bottles of wine.
She then went in at about 9:30pm on Friday and later fell asleep on a sofa.
But when she woke up at 2:30am on Saturday, she didn’t find three bears – just two very surprised homeowners.
‘Not what I expected to see when I walked into my house,’ Cheryl Petocz told News4Jax.
‘There was lots of bottles of wine that she drank.
‘I told her I was calling police and, as soon as I said that, she grabbed a few things and ran out the house, out the back door.’
Unfortunately for Layton, she forgot to take her passport with her.
When police caught up with the girl, she was wearing clothes belonging to one of the homeowners.
Layton, who faces charges for burglary, criminal mischief and petty theft, allegedly told the arresting officers that she wanted to ‘escape’ and be alone without having to sleep outside.
