A new father was shot to death in his Florida home moments after bringing his 3-day-old son home from the hospital Tuesday evening.
Steven Justin Ayers, 33, was celebrating his son's arrival with his wife and family when a bullet fired into his Panama City home hit him in the back of the head, according to the Bay County Sheriff's Office.
The new dad and local musician, whose son was born on Father's Day, died at the scene.

Deputies investigating the shooting followed the bullet's path, taking them to Ayers' neighbor, who lives directly behind him.
"The damn gun doesn't usually shoot," Charles Edward Shisler, 62, allegedly told officers about the firearm believed to have been used, according to the News Herald. "You have to squeeze the hell out of the trigger to shoot it."
Shisler was taken into custody and allegedly admitted to grabbing the weapon by its trigger, causing it to discharge.
A bullet hole was found in a rear sliding glass door to Ayers' home.
Shisler, who has a prior felony conviction for carrying a concealed firearm in 2006, wasalso found having a blood-alcohol content of 0.079, the Herald reported.
He was taken into custody and charged with manslaughter and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
A GoFundMe account has since been set up by the victim's family to help pay for the family's expenses during their time of need.
