Mum-of-three Linzy Greaves, 25, was pictured giving the middle finger to critics and wrote: “Someone has to rinse the w**k Government, don’t they?”
Greaves, from Bolsover, Derbys, falsely claimed £21,000 in benefits after failing to declare that her children had been taken into care.
She claimed income support, housing benefit and tax credits as a lone parent between 2010 and 2013.
Magistrates at Chesterfield gave her a four-week prison sentence suspended for 12 months. She must also obey a 12-week curfew between 8pm and 7am.
But after being deluged with angry comments, Greaves said: “I can’t see why people are angry. There are worse folk out there – murderers and paedophiles.
“I don’t mind if people are having a go, it doesn’t bother me.”
A message posted on Greaves’s personal Facebook page insisted she would not repay “a penny” of the cash that she conned out of hard-working taxpayers’ pockets.
Later she claimed somebody had hacked her account and posted that along with the “rinse the Government” comment.
Jonathan Isaby, of the Taxpayers’ Alliance, said: “Taxpayers will be understandably angry to see their hard-earned cash being waved around on Facebook. Money should go to people who really need it.”
