Two transients who broke into a man’s home in Oregon and started attacking him with a baseball bat got more than they bargained for when he pulled a gun on them.

Joseph Killingsworth, 27, and Johnny Moore, 25, called police after their victim fired two rounds from a shotgun into the air, the Coos County Sheriff's Office said.

The men had gone to the home in Coos Bay accompanied by several aggressive dogs and a baseball bat on a mission to physically attack a 23-year-old man.

The two homeless men believed the man had reported them to the Bureau of Land Management as trespassers, reports KVAL.

According to the sheriff’s office, Killingsworth and Moore took turns hitting the victim with the bat, causing extensive head, face and back injuries.

In an attempt to escape the victim pulled out his shotgun and fired two warning shots into the air.

The two homeless men, terrified, fled the scene and called police in the early hours of Wednesday morning to report that they had been fired upon.

They were subsequently arrested and charged with assault. The 23-year-old victim was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Yeah really. Shoot them, make sure it's a kill shot, and save the taxpayers some money.

The only thing that matters is training and shot placement. :machinegun:

Don't go by appearance.

Go by the fact that they had weapons.

Cheap as hell, I know, and the gun snobs sneer at it, but, it's like a real Russian ak; it always works. Oh, and it's .40 cal.

If you buy the Hi-Point .40 carbine the magazines are interchangeable.
I've been considering this very combo.

Hi point....If it doesn't work, you can kill them by showing how ugly it is....Or throw it at them cause it weights a metric ton.

Griff, yeah, I've kicked around the idea, but, I have no need for a .40 cal carbine. I already have a Winchester 44-40.

Loser, I agree, it's ugly, but I for one happen to like the weight. Call me old school, but I don't like plastic guns. If and when I buy a more expensive pistol, it will be a CZ SPO1, or possibly a Remington R1

In a very serious follow up post, I don't hate guns. For military and law enforcement, it's a necessity. In fact when I read that story about the civilian with the concealed permit who instructed bystanders to call 911 (and hopefully get the hell out of the way), then confronted the criminal(s)...it made me feel good.

What I don't like is a society that feels a gun is a need or an intrinsic right, rather than a privilege. If people keep on treating guns like cell phones, I guess we can't complain when 12 yr olds start popping their friends in playgrounds because little Jimmy stole my bike...

but you guys have heard this tune before...I commend the responsible gun owners who make intelligent, possibly life saving decisions...and absolutely hate the fact that guns are so easily obtainable to the other people in the equation...the dickwads, bullies and cowards and crazies..

and here's one for the cheap seats....if the events in the story happened at my house...the two scum break in with a bat and I'm holding a gun....it would be both barrels in the chest, no question

I do live with some older relatives that I love, so that probably skews my actions as compared to if I lived alone in an apartment....in that case I'd probably try to fight them or at least pick up the coffee table and fuck them up a little..
