MUNCIE – A Muncie brother and sister were arrested this week for their alleged roles in local heroin trafficking. Court documents suggest a third member of their family was also involved.

Mya Lynn Moody, 25, arrested early Tuesday on allegations she sold heroin three times to an agent for the Muncie Police Department’s narcotics unit, is preliminary charged with three counts of dealing in heroin and two counts of neglect of a dependent.

Moody had “her small child in her arms” while allegedly participating in a heroin deal that was observed by officers, police said. After her arrest, she reportedly told officers that she routinely brought her 4-year-old son with her on drug transactions, noting that “he doesn’t know what’s going on.”

She also indicated that she served as a “middle man” for her heroin supplier, her 29-year-old brother, Kriss Darius Moody II, of 104 N. Manhattan Ave.

He was also arrested early Tuesday, allegedly charged with possession of heroin, possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of a controlled substance and maintaining a common nuisance.

Kriss Moody allegedly told police he “deals about two ounces of heroin a week.” Police had followed Moody and another Muncie man, Shawn Patrick Wardrip, 30, of 925 S. Luick Ave., to Dayton, Ohio, where they are accused of buying heroin.

After a traffic stop upon their return to Muncie, investigators reported that they found 57 grams of heroin in a plastic bag in Kriss Moody’s possession.

While searching Moody’s home, police opened a safe, where they reported finding controlled substances, including morphine, more heroin, syringes and a loaded .38-caliber handgun.

The Moodys were being held in the Delaware County jail on Wednesday under $50,000 bonds, as was Wardrip, who has been preliminarily charged with conspiracy to deal in heroin.

Kriss Moody has felony convictions for theft and possession of a controlled substance. His younger sister has been convicted of robbery and theft.
