Could last winter's frequent snowy conditions repeat itself at the end of the year?

The Old Farmer's Almanac released its 223rd edition Wednesday, and its calling for a "super cold" winter for the eastern two-thirds of the United States this year.

According to the almanac's forecast for the Atlantic corridor, "winter will be colder and slightly wetter than normal with above-normal snowfall. The coldest periods will be in late December and early and mid-January. The snowiest periods will be in mid- and late December, mid-January and early to mid-February."

11 Insta-Weather PLUS meteorologist Tony Pann said he thinks the "cooler and wetter than average" pattern will continue at least into December.

Next summer will be warmer and generally drier than normal, the almanac predicts.

While the almanac boasts an 80-percent accuracy rate, its prediction for a very hot summer this year didn't quite pan out.

I spent three weeks in New Hampshire this past February. That was enough cold to last me the rest of my life.
