DENVER - Two men in their mid-20's were taken to the hospital Tuesday afternoon with injuries from a lightning strike.
Police say a student at Colorado Heights University, along with another man, were sitting under a tree at the border of the campus near the 2800 block of South Federal Avenue to avoid heavy rainfall.
Police say lightning struck the tree just before 3 p.m.
Emergency crews say the student was unconscious and had no pulse when they arrived. He was immediately taken to Denver Health and is currently listed in critical condition.
The other victim suffered less severe injuries. He was treated at the scene and hospitalized. Officials say he was released a few hours later.
Police say both victims are expected to survive their injuries.
