A security officer at a Michigan high school told an Army lieutenant Tuesday that he could not enter the school because he was wearing his uniform and "may offend another student," MyFoxDetroit.com reported.

Lt. Col. Sherwood Baker told the station he was visiting Rochester Adams High School because his daughter was having difficulty navigating the school.

He was turned away, even though the Rochester School District has no policy barring individuals in uniform from entering the school.

The superintendent, Robert Shaner, himself a Marine veteran, apologized to the family.

Shaner said the district "will be working with administration and the firm that handles our security to make sure district policies are understood and communicated accurately."

"I've been on deployment. I understand what people go through and the sacrifices people make. I understand the expectation to be respected for what you've done," Shaner told The Oakland Press. "I understand that what has taken place deeply hurts people. We will correct it."

It sounds to me like that security officer needs to be reassigned to janitorial duties.

When reading the headline, I assumed it had occurred in the UK.
The US are not generally at retarded when it comes to their war vets.
