An Al Qaeda group just established in India have bungled their first mission.

The terrorists tried to storm what they thought was an American aircraft carrier in Karachi.

But the ship turned out to be a Pakistan navy frigate.

Three jihadis were killed and seven more arrested. Two Pakistan Navy guards were hurt in the fighting.

The Islamists were fighting for the Al Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent, which was only set-up earlier this month to bolster its flagging fortunes.

"It was a complete failure," a senior investigation source told the Telegraph.

"They did not do any kind of damage, some were captured and we caught more, seven so far, and may be more to come. They were well-equipped and came with there intention of taking a ship into their custody but they were caught in the initial stages."

Al Qaeda had announced the new group to try and show it is still powerful despite the meteoric rise of the Islamic State (ISIL).
