There was talk of the union jack having to be changed...and in turn if that happened in Merrie Olde, then it'd have to happen here as well...my province has the union jack as part of it...

I just hope the voting isnt rigged, because there appears to be quite a lot of money and collateral to be borrowed against for britain that they stand to lose should the vote be Aye.

So Im reading you guys want to become more socialist? Is that correct?

Goofy
09-18-2014, 08:07 PM
The UK is pretty much a socialist state as it is  What most of us want is pretty simple (when i say most of us, i mean my friends and other YES people i've spoken with) - the chance to vote our own government into charge and control our own wealth and spending, rather than being run by a government that England votes for. The Conservative party is currently in charge of the UK (with a little help from the Lib Dems), here's how Scotland voted at the last election:

http://i.imgur.com/Yf7xy9I.png

A feeble 4th on the list yet they're in charge of us :shakehead: Truth is, if Devo Max was an option on the ballot paper (PM Cameron wouldn't allow it and he may very well pay for that) then i, and thousands of other YES voters would surely have voted that way - stay strong as part of the UK but make our own decisions on how we make and spend our money.

All that can be heard this morning is the noise of breaking glass as 55% of Scotland bottled it!

This was our chance to control our own future but the fearmongering has scared enough people into voting no.

The next few days/weeks/months/years are going to be 'interesting' as the backlash from middle England arrives.

I bet that London doesn't follow thru with even half the things they were promising Scotland if the No votes won.

I am just impressed with the process philosophically. The union had a peaceful demonstration of the exercise of self determination by a member state.

Given recent events in other nations, that is an accomplishment of which to be quite proud.

Now let's see what happens in Spain, whose government is taking the opposite position.

They will/better and in the timetable laid out, there is a UK general election next year and a Scottish Parliament election the year after that so the fall out would be severe if they don't.

Devo Max which was dismissed 2 years ago when the Edinburgh Bill was first proposed but just as the polls started to show Yes could win it gets trotted out 2 days before the referendum and 'pledged' by the three leaders of the BetterTogether parties. You can be sure that for Scotland to be given what was 'pledged' the rest of the UK will demand (quite rightly) local control of its own.

What exactly were they promised? I don't remember seeing a definitive list anywhere.

London was promising that Scotland would basically get a lot more autonomy than they have now along with a handful of other things if they voted to stay in the UK.

He may be an eejit...... but he's a very intelligent eejit ;) I see he's already stood down as 1st Minister and is heading down to Westminster to infiltrate ;)

Agreed on all points!

I bet that London doesn't follow thru with even half the things they were promising Scotland if the No votes won.

Cameroon is backtracking already from what i've heard.......... he knows the backlash he faces in England/Wales and N.Ireland after promising us more power!

They will/better and in the timetable laid out, there is a UK general election next year and a Scottish Parliament election the year after that so the fall out would be severe if they don't.

1.5m Scotsmen invading Westminster, fully kilted and pished as fuck........ sure would be a sight to behold

Damn :sad2: I'm either getting no blowjob or having to stay sober.........
