ISABELLA COUNTY, Mich. — A researcher in central Michigan has captured audio of what he believes could be a Bigfoot’s howl.

The recording, taken in 2012, was released Saturday and contains an unidentified animal howl that resembles primate vocalizations.

“It would be easy to dismiss as was one or more birds making late night calls had it not been for wood knocks and other strange sounds that were also recorded from the same area,” said Jim Sherman, who has been an investigator with the BFRO for decades.

According to Sherman, the area where the sounds were taken is known for significant Bigfoot sightings.

“During the same night and for subsequent years there have been numerous recordings of wood knocks, howls, shrieks, whoops and other strange activity from this location,” he explained.

Primates emit howls mainly to warn other nearby monkeys of their claimed territory, but it could also serve as a means of communication among members of the same group.

Sherman believes it could just be “something mundane” mixed with other sounds, thus confusing the listener.

“This vocal is one of my personal favorites, in part because I can’t figure out what is making this sound.”

Or maybe, he says, it could be something else.

“It could be the Michigan Dogman…or Poodleman in this case.”

The Dogman is a cryptid reputed to live in the northwestern quadrant of the Lower Peninsula, although other sightings have been reported in other locations. The creature was first spotted in 1887 by two lumberjacks, who described the creature as having a human body and a dog’s head.

Sherman experienced his own Bigfoot encounter in 1989 when on a camping trip to the Upper Penninsula of Michigan, the northern one of the two major land masses that make up the Wolverine State. He regularly holds seminars aimed at Bigfoot enthusiasts.

He is asking listeners for help identifying the recorded sound.

“This is one set of strange vocals that I have not yet determined a source for,” he said.

we heard a long high pitched shriek years ago camping in a crowded campground...trailer lights came on, people came out of tents...it was a little unnerving for us and we were pissed to the gills
