A new café has attracted attention for all the wrong reasons after a controversial choice of font led to its name being misread.
The owner of The Tuck-in Coffee Shop in Doncaster, south Yorkshire, failed to foresee that the eatery’s new cursive font could lead to locals reading the ‘T’ incorrectly.
Shocked shoppers have said they had to ‘double-take’ when they read the sign, with a number of residents branding it inappropriate.
‘It looks a lot like a swear-word to me,’ said Betty Lomas, 75.
‘I wouldn’t be surprised if they’d planned it on purpose to attract some attention.
‘It’s highly inappropriate, especially as there’s children about.’
Other locals, however, had a different take.
‘It’s very amusing,’ said Louise Cooper, 38. ‘You’ve got to see the funny side of things like that.’
‘I think it’s hilarious,’ agreed Darren Bent, 23. ‘It brightened up my day.’
The owner of the coffee shop definitely wasn’t amused, however, and didn’t wish to comment.
