PACIFIC BEACH (CNS) - A suspected drunken driver slammed a car into a police cruiser and two other vehicles at a checkpoint in Pacific Beach, and faces drunken driving charges Saturday.
Eleven 11 other suspected drunken drivers were also stopped in the area overnight.
More than 1,150 vehicles passed through the checkpoint in the 2700 block of Garnet Avenue, near Mission Bay Drive, between 11:20 p.m. Friday and 3 a.m. today, according to San Diego police Officer Mark McCullough.
At some point during the operation, a speeding drunken driver entered the checkpoint area and crashed into a police car and two other vehicles, McCullough said.
No one was injured.
