A Sioux Falls teen accused of aiming a loaded handgun at a repo man is facing assault and drug charges after a traffic stop that closed off a portion of Minnesota Avenue Monday night.

The victim was threatened as he tried to repossess a Nissan 350 just before 8 p.m. near 14th Street and Minnesota Avenue, according to a press release from Sgt. Jason Leach of the Sioux Falls Police Department.

The victim called police at 7:46 p.m. and kept dispatchers updated on the vehicle's location as it traveled south on Minnesota.

Officers caught up with the sports car at 28th Street and Minnesota.

The stop closed off Minnesota for about five minutes as 18-year-old Justus Zafft and his 52-year-old mother Lesa Zafft were called from the vehicle and detained in the parking lot of Dakota Entertainment at 2011 S. Minnesota Ave.

Police found a loaded gun, as well as methamphetamine, marijuana and cash inside the car.

Justus Zafft was charged with aggravated assault. Mother and son were both charged with possession of marijuana, drug paraphernalia and a controlled substance, possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance and ingestion.
