Anyone do this? This is pretty much a tradition with me and my mates over here, been going on for years  Think i'm gonna treat myself to a cordless ratchet kit for the work! I use an air ratchet quite a lot as we do a lot of work on BMW's and 3/4 of the time the damage includes bumpers which are held on by a heap of 8mm bolts, air ratchet saves me a load of time when taking off dozens of the same size bolts :) So........ been looking at the Milwaukee M12 model, seems like a cracking bit of kit....... but it's over £250 here (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Milwaukee-Compact-Impact-Ratchet-Batteries/dp/B008ETKPC2/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1417122105&sr=8-2&keywords=milwaukee+cordless+ratchet) - fucking robbing bastards [-( Had a look on ebay, can get a brand new one, complete with battery and charger for under £140 including delivery and import charges! (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Milwaukee-2457-21-3-8-Cordless-M12-Lithium-Ion-Ratchet-Kit-/271118041706?pt=Power_Tools&hash=item3f1fe5026a) Why the fuck do we get robbed blind over here? :|

Anyway, think i'll be having one of them as my christmas present to myself  Anyone else buy themselves something? (i don't wrap the fucking thing up and open it on christmas day or anything like that btw, that would just be sad  ).

I usually buy myself something computer-wise or electronicky for Christmas.....typically it's antivirus/firewall software because I do the annual format right before Xmas

I did mine a week or two back, i'm actually pretty quick at it now  Got install files for all my programs saved on an external - the only time consuming part is installing all the windows updates........ at least i can download them pretty quick now :)

my install flies offline....win 7 is about 5 minutes, security suite about 2 minutes, all drivers about 5 minutes total...

then I plug in my modem and hit windows update :meh: :| :(

then I spend about another day tweaking everything, removing buttons, killing duplicate shortcuts....pretty much changing every windows default in the OS

I like doing it

Here in Canada we can get it for this...I'm betting 'murica would be cheaper...

1/4" - Tool only $156 Tool + kit $218.90; 3/8" tool only - $152.90 ; All must be bought online and that doesn't count delivery or importation charges so I bet you'd break even with that low price you have.

What the hell do you need 3/8th for on 8mm bolts?

I've got a good set of Makita 12 volt tools, they haven't come out with a 1/4 ratchet though. I've the hex impact driver, drill and just recently bought the 3/8 impact. Really impressed with that, it's been taking off 12-15mm bumper bars with no problem. Even pulled a couple lugnuts off my coworkers car with it.

I bought myself a gas grill last week. And the snap on guy was giving away nice Snap On insulated coats with certain purchases, I bribed him in to giving me the coat with a set of 1/4 deep, impact, magnetic sockets if I paid it off on the spot. They have a spring loaded magnet in them, I had the 10mm and loved it so I got the rest of the set.

It was just an example, i'll be using it on more than that

BTW do you have any other 12v Milwaukee tools? Home depot here has the bare tool, 3/8 12 volt for $99 with a free battery. (no charger). The kit with charger is $149 for the 3/8 $159 for the 1/4.

I don't buy much from Snap on, too expensive. Most of my stuff is from Matco. Used to buy a lot from Mac but he doesn't come to our shop and doesn't want to add any more stops to his route. If I break any Mac stuff I call him and meet him when he's close by.

Couple things like small right angle grinders I just get from Harbor Freight for 8-12 bucks each. They don't last as long as the "name brand" but I can guarantee that 8 $10 ones will outlast 1 $80 one.

I don't know about tools, so I'll defer to the others on that one, but I usually get myself something after Christmas with the money and gift cards that I receive. However, if I find decent prices for some things I want during my online travels while searching for deals on Christmas gifts for others, I'll pull the trigger on it. For example, I took advantage of the Samsung Galaxy S5 $1 deal that Best Buy is currently running. I just have to activate the phone and switch up my Verizon service plan to one that fits the smart phone's functionality. I also picked up a 64GB MicroSD card from Amazon that was $25 that I'll be using among several of my devices.

Not a fan of the Milwaukee cordless tools(though I still love the corded ones) Ive had no luck with their chargers. My work supplied drill, impact, and reciprocating tools are dewalt, but my personal cordless tools are Bosch or makita

Goof remember that it needs to be marked as a gift and marked as a low price or you could be stung with import charges

$10 for a mini grinder? Fuck sake, even the dodgy bastards who pop into here with their van full of tools are wanting £30 or so for one :(

I like makita stuff but their cordless ratchet has a bigger battery which protrudes out the sides making it less useful for getting into tight spaces.

You probably don't have anything like Harbor Freight tools over there, it's all cheapo stuff, much of it is their "house" brands. a lot of it is garbage that breaks the 2nd time you use it but some stuff holds up pretty well. I've a drawer full of those mini grinders with different attachments on them.

Like I said though, most of it is garbage that breaks as soon as you need it. I typically won't buy anything from there over $30 because I don't wanna waste the money on a future doorstop.
