KINGSPORT, Tenn.– Police say a man in Sullivan County requested their assistance last Saturday night after claiming a “Bigfoot” creature was trying to break into his Bloomingdale Road residence.

The caller, who had reportedly armed himself with a knife to fight the purported beast, said there was someone outside and banging on the front door.

According to dispatchers, the blows were so hard that “a picture had been knocked off the inside wall”.

An officer who was sent to investigate the incident wasn’t able to find the cause of the ruckus. It is not clear whether the man was intoxicated.

This is not the first time that someone reports an incident of this nature to the authorities. Back in May, a man called an emergency operator after allegedly driving his car into a ditch and claiming an animal was attacking the occupants of the vehicle seconds prior to the call being dropped.

In 1996, a Washington state resident placed a 911 call stating there was “something big and black that looked like a man” staring at him in his backyard. The man also claimed his dog had recently been mysteriously killed.

Urban cryptid encounters are rare, but reports are increasing every year. Earlier in May, a man from Hillsboro told Cryptozoology News that he had seen a similar animal peeking through the window outside his bedroom.

In March, a child in Kentucky claimed that an animal that “looked like a monkey or an ape” had been watching him through his bedroom’s window.

In June, an Ohio woman came forward to tell her story about the “repeated kidnappings” as a child that were reportedly conducted by a “group of Bigfoots’.

Just last August, a 48-year-old truck driver from Utah told Cryptozoology News he had seen “something that looked like Bigfoot” while parked at a truck stop in the city of Tooele.

A woman from Washington in September claimed she had caught a creature “similar to a gorilla” peeping into the glassless window of her cabin.

In October, a child claimed to have spotted a “white Bigfoot” walking around his family’s property. The report was thoroughly investigated by the cryptid research organization Team Rogue, whose members were able to determine additional physical features of the alleged creature.

Only ten days later, neighbors of a small community in Show Low, Arizona, blamed the Mogollon monster and a “giant rabbit” for electrical failures at a trailer park.

Police have also witnessed strange occurrences this year. In September, the Espanola police department in New Mexico released footage of what some officers called a “ghost”.

In August, police in the city of Port Harcourt, Nigeria, claimed to have witnessed three boys morphing into cats.

In 2007, a police officer from Mexico admitted to being attacked by a flying humanoid while on patrol in the city of Monterrey.

The city of Kingsport was established in 1771 and has a current population of 48,200 people.
