A teenage girl allegedly hit a 15-year-old boy with a metal stool because she thought he had farted near her.
Joquasha Rosado, 17, was arrested at South Richmond High School in Staten Island, New York, following the alleged attack.
She is also accused of punching him in the head up to 15 times when she launched the attack.
According to a police complaint the boy needed medical staples, silive.com reports.
A spokesman for District Attorney Daniel Donovan said she was arraigned on a felony charge of second degree assault, misdimeanour charges of third-degree assault, possession of a criminal weapon, and harassment.
She will return to court on February 25.
