Australian golfer Robert Allenby has been kidnapped, beaten up and robbed.

The sportsman was reportedly drugged at a wine bar before he was driven six and a half miles, attacked and then dumped in a park in Hawaii.

A photo of him in the aftermath shows deep scrapes on his forehead.

He told Associated Press: ‘I didn’t think I was going to survive this one. I should be okay, just in a lot of pain.’

The 43-year-old was competing in the Sony Open but missed the cut.

He went back to his hotel in Honolulu where he prepared to stay before flying home the next morning.

But his caddie told the Golf Channel that Allenby was beaten, robbed of his mobile, cash and credit cards after having a drink at a wine bar.

He said a homeless woman in the park told him she saw him thrown out of the car.

Allenby has four PGA Tour victories, the last one in 2001. He has won 22 times worldwide, played in the Presidents Cup six times. His career was slowed in 1996 when he was seriously injured in a car accident in Spain.

So is this misfortune for a nice guy, or was he drunk and pissed off the wrong person?
