An Oregon mom took to her blog to explain that she recently chose to stop wearing leggings in an effort to further honor God and her husband.
Veronica Partridge's latest blog post, which has recently gone viral, goes into detail about how a conversation with her husband lead her to deciding not to wear leggings ever again.
"For the past several months, I have been having a conviction weighing heavy on my heart," Partridge wrote. "I tried ignoring it for as long as I could until one day a conversation came up amongst myself and a few others (both men and women). The conversation was about leggings and how when women wear them it creates a stronger attraction for a man to look at a woman’s body and may cause them to think lustful thoughts. God really changed my heart in the midst of that conversations and instead of ignoring my convictions, it was time I start listening to them and take action."
When Partidge went to her husband to share her thoughts, he let her know how it makes him feel and think when he sees women wearing leggings.
"When I walk into a place and there are women wearing yoga pants everywhere, it's hard to not look. I don't, but it's not easy," Partridge's husband allegedly said.
Partridge says she then realized that in order to honor her husband, she needed to stop wearing leggings. In turn, she says, she feels as though she is better honoring God.
"If it is difficult for my husband who loves, honors, and respects me to keep his eyes focused ahead, then how much more difficult could it be for a man that may not have the same self-control?" Partridge wrote, continuing to tell how the change has affected her. "My conscience is clear and I feel I am honoring God and my husband in the way I dress."
Since her blog post was published, many people have had mixed reactions, with some supporting Partridge in her decision, and others expressing their disagreement.
"Some women find men in suits sexy," wrote one user. "So does that mean men shouldn't wear suits?"
"Not wearing leggings is not a magic bullet that will stop men from looking," wrote another user. "Many men will probably look no matter what."
