"Planet X" might actually exist — and so might "Planet Y."

At least two planets larger than Earth likely lurk in the dark depths of space far beyond Pluto, just waiting to be discovered, a new analysis of the orbits of "extreme trans-Neptunian objects" (ETNOs) suggests.

Researchers studied 13 ETNOs — frigid bodies such as the dwarf planet Sedna that cruise around the sun at great distances in elliptical paths.

Theory predicts a certain set of details for ETNO orbits, study team members said. For example, they should have a semi-major axis, or average distance from the sun, of about 150 astronomical units (AU). (1 AU is the distance from Earth to the sun — roughly 93 million miles). These orbits should also have an inclination, relative to the plane of the solar system, of almost 0 degrees, among other characteristics.

But the actual orbits of the 13 ETNOs are quite different, with semi-major axes ranging from 150 to 525 AU and average inclinations of about 20 degrees.

"This excess of objects with unexpected orbital parameters makes us believe that some invisible forces are altering the distribution of the orbital elements of the ETNOs, and we consider that the most probable explanation is that other unknown planets exist beyond Neptune and Pluto," lead author Carlos de la Fuente Marcos, of the Complutense University of Madrid, said in a statement.

"The exact number is uncertain, given that the data that we have is limited, but our calculations suggest that there are at least two planets, and probably more, within the confines of our solar system," he added.

The potential undiscovered worlds would be more massive than Earth, researchers said, and would lie about 200 AU or more from the sun — so far away that they'd be very difficult, if not impossible, to spot with current instruments.

The new results — detailed in two papers in the journal Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society Letters — aren't the first to lend credence to the possible existence of a so-called Planet X.

In March 2014, Chadwick Trujillo and Scott Sheppard announced the discovery of 2012 VP113, an ETNO that never gets closer to the sun than 80 AU. 2012 VP113 thus joined Sedna as the two known denizens of the "inner Oort Cloud," a far-flung and largely unexplored region of space beyond the Kuiper Belt (where Pluto lies).

Trujillo and Sheppard suggested that the orbits of 2012 VP113 and Sedna are consistent with the continued presence of a big "perturber" — perhaps a planet 10 times more massive than Earth that lies 250 AU from the sun.

However, the pair also stressed that other explanations are possible as well. For example, Sedna and 2012 VP113 may have been pushed out to their present positions by long-ago interactions with other stars in the sun's birth cluster. The objects may also have been nabbed from another solar system during a stellar close encounter.

De la Fuente Marcos and his colleagues acknowledge the possibility of such alternative scenarios as well. The picture should get clearer as researchers study the orbits of more and more distant, icy objects, he said.

"If it is confirmed, our results may be truly revolutionary for astronomy," de la Fuente Marcos said.

if you go back to the ancient sumerian stuff - you know - where the jews stole the Noah story from (amongst half the other shit embellished and rewritten in the bible, compare the two and cripes fook, how much of this is just propaganda....the jews have been at it 5000 years) - this is the historical cause of it, according to them.

Technically, there could be something out in the Oort cloud. We really don't know a whole hell of a lot about that region surrounding our solar system.

historical accuracy, brotha! the jews changed that whole story (sumerian) around, made it into their own, took a character from it (yaweh) who they uplifted to the status of "the one and only god." the story of the jews is a fuckjob right from their conception. that of course doesnt mean I hate jews today (aside from the z word) because their only culpability in the matter is promulgating things they've been told is truth. the whole historical significance of the value of gold comes from ancient sumerian lore and the jews of old in history really just bastardized the hell out of it as a means of controlling their tribe.

what people miss about the whole hitler situation is that the jew aspect was tangential to WWII, almost as negroes were entirely tangential to the civil war (except the whole flip side of money and the banker correlation....ding ding, banking and finance is really what WWI and WWII were about, not the extermination of jews)...the creation of palestine for the as yet unreturned Israelites was determined long before WWII started, and the extermination of jews was the rationale behind going and usurping lands that were centuries if not approaching a millenium, in Muslim hands.

so is it any wonder muslims hate jews? they've been at war forever, but the sad fact is, they are both Abrahamic religions and thus share the same common bastard root - simply revealing an old division of ideas based on the same embellished stories.

Theological scholars have found that the very early stories of Creation and the Flood that are found in the Bible have come from earlier non-Abrahamic religions. Religions that existed long before Judaism, Christianity, and Islam (well, everything existed before Islam, so...). Religions that are no longer practiced widely or religions that don't even exist anymore. Not exactly word for word, but the ideas are the same. In some cases, the names are the same. Think the Epic of Gilgamesh. That's the earliest known written account of the Flood. It's in the earliest written version of Gilgamesh. There is nothing that has come before that, nothing written on parchment or carved in stone that has that story. But here's the kicker: even though the Creation and Flood myths have come from earlier non-Abrahamic sources, it's entirely possible that those sources got them from even earlier sources that were never written down. A lot of these stories have been passed down by oral tradition.

Interesting fact: the snake/serpent in the garden of eden is not really the devil as we think of the devil today to the ancient Hebrews. The snake/serpent is one of the major revered demigods of the religions that were widely practiced at the time. The Israelites basically cast their enemies demigods as devils to separate themselves from those in dominance at the time.

The ideas found elsewhere in the Bible are based on ideas found in the other older religions as well, more along the lines of parallel themes, but cast in the Hebrew/Christian tradition. The religious texts we all read today are nothing like what they were back when they were first written ages ago. Things have been changed over the years to fit the times. All of this stuff was passed down from generation to generation and what we have today is very much the result of the changes that occur due to that process. If you look at how languages have changed over time, you can get an idea of these stories have all changed over time. What we believe today could be completely different from what the ancients believed back in the day. And if they were all right, then we're all wrong and we're all going to Hell, even the most devout of us.

If you really want to dig, you can find this comparative religion stuff all over the place. It really is interesting. The History Channel had specials on it and they were absolutely fascinating.

Another interesting fact: The Bible is a collection of epic poems, much like the Iliad and the Odyssey, because that's how things were written back in the day. That's how they wrote their stories. Beowulf. Again, the Epic of Gilgamesh. Epic poetry. All of it.

also includes such egyptian characters such as Thoth, who is credited with doing the genetic splicing to create homo sapiens, and part of the old energetic lore is that part of this significance is that homo erectus did not have a very coherent energetic alignment and thus could never even really recognize the concept of nakedness.

the "god" yaweh called his brother the devil for giving humans the gift of awareness. so one can basically liken yaweh to what was depicted as the ruler on the other side in the movie "stargate" - wanting an illiterate bunch of slaves to mine gold for him

A young monk arrives at the monastery. He is assigned to helping the other monks in copying the old canons and laws of the church by hand. He notices, however, that all of the monks are copying from copies, not from the original manuscript.

So, the new monk goes to the head abbot to question this, pointing out that if someone made even a small error in the first copy, it would never be picked up. In fact, that error would be continued in all of the subsequent copies.

The head monk says, "We have been copying from the copies for centuries, but you make a good point, my son." So, he goes down into the dark caves underneath the monastery where the original manuscripts are held as archives in a locked vault that hasn't been opened for hundreds of years.

Hours go by and nobody sees the old abbot. So, the young monk gets worried and goes down to look for him. He sees him banging his head against the wall and wailing, "We missed the "R", we missed the "R". His forehead is all bloody and bruised and he is crying uncontrollably.

The young monk asks the old abbot, "What's wrong, father?" With a choking voice, the old abbot replies, "The word was CELEBRATE!"
