The now-discredited Western mainstream media has already lost its credibility, that it's nothing but a mercenary propaganda machine. It may be ineffective (and I think, it should be mothballed altogether) but it's still a great source of laughs though.

The Donetsk Airport has been retaken by the Novorussians for days now (since January 20), and a Ukrainian commander who headed the doomed battalion to retake it was even captured a couple of days ago by the Novorussian militia. Mind you, not just a military commander but he was the Number 3 man in the Right Sector party list, the Nazi gang co-opted by the Western imperialists to occupy Ukraine. The Western press has held out for days about the retaking by the Novorussians of the airport (it was a great propaganda windfall for the rebels, that's why they were hesitant), but they were finally forced two days after the fact (they couldn't hide it anymore, videos were appearing everywhere), and while they were reporting that the Novorussians have captured some prisoners, nobody in the American press mentioned the name of Oleg Mikats, the captured Right Sector clown. The capture of Mikats was as big as the capture of the Donetsk Airport itself. But the Western mercenary press failed to do its duty- to inform the public of the really important, and true, news.

There's actually a clue when the Ukrainians are losing: you would read their noisy claim about the presence of Russian soldiers attacking them. That happened when they were routed last year by the rebels, and only the Minsk Ceasefire saved them. Two days ago, when they were defeated at the Donetsk airport, we heard again the claims of the Ukrainian puppet President and the NATO commander that the Russians have atttacked Ukraine. LOL, that's almost a sure sign they were defeated by the rebels again and they had to resort to their "Russians are attacking" drama to hopefully mask their shame.

Well, since the Minsk ceasefire is officially over before it even started, one can be sure that an attempt will be made. The reason: as the updated map below showing who controls what territory in east Ukraine currently - with Debaltseve firmly in separatist hands - Mariupol is the last remaining outpost before "Novorossiya" will have a land access to Crimea.



As for what happens after Mariupol, too, falls? Well, the broke Ukraine government is just making it too easy. As Reuters also reports, "Ukraine has suspended supplies of gas to its eastern regions because the gas network was damaged by fighting between pro-Russian separatists and government forces, Ukrainian state gas firm Naftogaz said on Thursday. "Due to the extensive damage of the gas transport networks, the supply of gas ... was suspended on Feb. 18. The resumption of gas supplies is not yet possible because of the ongoing hostilities in the region," the company said in a statement."



In other words, with Kiev fully cutting off east Ukraine from its control, it will be up to Putin to swoop in and "save" the territory from its host government which no longer cares about the fate of the people living there.

Ukrainian Prosecutor General’s Office has opened a criminal cases against National Bank governor Valeriya Gontareva, the Vesti publication said on Tuesday.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said Wednesday the decision of the Ukrainian authorities to halt gas supplies to Donetsk amid the ongoing humanitarian catastrophe “bear hallmarks of genocide”.


“As if hunger [in Donetsk and Luhansk] was not enough – the OSCE has already stated that the region is experiencing a humanitarian catastrophe – they had their gas supplies cut off. What would you call it? I would say this bears the hallmarks of genocide,” he said during a meeting with President of Cyprus Nicos Anastasiades.


"Apparently, some responsible leaders of the modern-day Ukraine are unable to understand the importance of humanitarian issues. It seems that the very notion of humanism has been forgotten," he added.




"Prepayments, made by Ukrainian side, are enough for three - four days. If [further] payment is not made, Gazprom, in compliance with this contract, will halt the [gas] supplies," Putin said at a press conference.



"Naturally, it may create a certain threat for the transit to Europe," Putin added.



Ukraine's state energy company Naftogaz on Monday accused Russia's Gazprom of failing to deliver the gas for which Kiev had prepaid.



According to a statement by the company's press service, Gazprom was to deliver 114 cubic meters both on February 22 and February 23 but supplied only 47 and 39 million cubic meters on these dates instead, respectively.



On Tuesday, Gazprom head Alexei Miller, in turn, said that the amount of gas prepaid by Ukraine was estimated at 219 million cubic meters, enough for a couple of days only.



Kiev's massive gas debt, exceeding $5 billion at the time, forced Moscow to suspend gas deliveries to Ukraine for nearly six months in 2014. Deliveries resumed in early December under the so-called winter package deal, mediated by the European Union and signed by Gazprom and Naftogaz. The deal stipulated that Ukraine must pay Russia in advance for all future gas supplies.

You missed the main idea there - Ukraine is *way* behind on paying Gazprom. So much that they said prepay only. Now Kiev is threatening to cut off the east of Ukraine from the gas that they do actually buy.

Bit of a problem then, innit? Ukraine has been skimming gas off the line on top of it - what else would one have Gazprom do in such a case? (as in, Gazprom says we delivered X through the pipe, Ukraine bought X-Y, yet X-Y-Z appears at the other end of Ukraine's pipe....)

This is why there is talk of pipe through turkey, or azerbaijian...

and this is why the Israelis want war in Syria and to take Assad out, so that there can be a pipeline run through Syria that they Syrians will not allow. All of this is centered around hitting Russia and getting alternate means of production so that they dont have to pay the russians, so that they can say fuck you russia, isolate them, and then subdue them.

and Russia is having none of it, because it holds decent cards in its hands also - just not the "we can print any amount of money we feel like" one.
