An 8-year-old boy identified only as "Ahmed" was recently questioned by police in Nice, France, over some comments he allegedly made.

The boy reportedly would not observe a minute of silence in his school following the attack on 12 staff members at the satirical magazine "Charlie Hebdo" in Paris on Jan. 7. The third-grader is also accused of making comments that expressed support for the two brothers who carried out the attack, noted NPR.

"In the current context, the principal of the school decided to report to police what had happened," Marcel Authier, a security official, told AFP. "We summoned the child and his father to try and comprehend how an 8-year-old boy could hold such radical ideas."

Authier added, "Obviously, the child doesn't understand what he's saying."

Sefen Guez Guez, a lawyer for the boy's family, reportedly tweeted that the boy did admit to saying, “I am with the terrorists,” but when the child was asked by police what terrorism meant, he said, “I don’t know.”
