A 24-year-old Ocala man was charged with attempting to circumcise his nephew with a kitchen knife, police said.
Police received a call that a 20-month-old boy had been cut, Sgt. Michael Sommer said, and by the time officers arrived the boy's father had taken him to the hospital.
From interviewing people at the scene, officers determined that Larry Leroy Floyd, the boy's uncle, had allegedly tried to circumcise him with a kitchen knife.
Floyd was arrested and charged with domestic aggravated battery, Sommer said.
Floyd has a history of arrests including charges of drug possession, domestic violence, armed robbery, trespassing and aggravated stalking of a child.
The boy's condition was not available.
