Pilot was last night, first episode tonight.

What did you think?

Holding back judgement for a few shows , 1st was ok but think I was expecting more highs of BB

Agreed, a little tepid.

I did like the first shot of him in current life, working at Cinnabon in disguise.

Didn't like how they blatantly inserted Mike and Tuco into the pilot. I know these are people from his past...seemed to me that Gilligan (the writer/producer) was taking the easy way.

There's only season 5, divided into separate parts of 8 episodes each.

Agreed on both counts, it was a pretty neat way to start the show. That may have been the high point unfortunately. Having Mike show up almost immediately as a parking lot attendant? Very lame

Haven't watched the second episode yet. I take it his brother Chuck is mentally ill? Fear of electromagnetic energies and having people 'ground' themselves before entering...

Makes you think. What if Chuck did take the 17 million dollar buyout and gave Saul some of it.

Probably be no TV show then

Teh One Who Knocks

Was Chuck his brother?

I must have completely missed that part

I'm assuming because of the name and how he treated him. Trying not to read anything about the show as the internet is at it again with spoiler bylines for articles :x

I googled The Walking Dead and first site was titled with a description of what happened on that show last week :meh:

Yeah, you can't look up ANYTHING to do with TV shows or movies without getting hit by major spoilers :|

especially when it's titled that way in the list of google choices without even hitting the site - So and so dies on the walking dead, say good bye to so and so

I did manage to find out that Chuck is Saul/Jim's brother

Just watched episode 2, it was better....but the show has a much more serious tone than I was expecting. Dunno why, but I expected more of a comedic series

the 2nd show was a lot better , plenty of dark humour lurking in it think it could be heading the right way now

As much as I liked the 2nd episode (especially compared to the first) it just still seems too much to have 2 MAJOR characters from BB already make their appearance in the series. I dunno.

Hal-9000

I guess it's like life, shit happens and relationships are formed accidentally a lot of the time.

At first I thought the same. The creators are milking another series, immediately using beloved characters. We have to assume Saul has known Mike a long time and had some shadowy connection to Tuco

i guess i was hoping it would step away from BB for awhile before re-introducing the viewers to staple characters of BB

Episode 3 was better IMO, this is going to be a slow origins show...although hopefully not like Gotham (j/k).

I wish they would indicate the year. Chuck bails out Saul and obviously Saul hasn't taken the Bar exam yet in that flashback  And I understand it takes a few years to become a lawyer.

Memory question - *****SPOILER pertaining to Breaking Bad season 2***** Isn't Nacho the guy that Tuco beat to death in front of Walt and Jesse?

and Mike was great as always

No. That was No-Doze he beat to death. No-Doze was there with Tuco, Nacho, Gonzo, Saul, and the idiot twins in the desert. Nacho has never been seen in BB, although Saul/Jimmy may have referred to him in one of his meetings with Walt and Jesse in the second season.

couple of complaints...nothing takes me out of a period piece more than when a character uses a phrase that hasn't been in use yet..

on this series so far - I'm down with that ....and hells yeah!....from when Saul was younger and not a lawyer yet :-k

Teh One Who Knocks
04-02-2015, 11:55 AM
Wow, I really thought that Chuck was on Jimmy's side the whole time, never saw that coming, even when they showed the scene with Chuck going outside to use Jimmy's phone. What an asshole.

Hal-9000
04-02-2015, 03:52 PM
Yes it seems that Chuck was a law superstar and I can see how it would be embarrassing to have a little brother like Jimmy.

The University of Guam online law degree

In Chuck's rant did you hear his comparison? ...it's like a chimp with a machine gun!!

Teh One Who Knocks
04-02-2015, 04:06 PM
Yeah, that was cold, especially since it was Jimmy that was taking care of Chuck all this time while he was 'trapped' by his phobia.

Hal-9000
04-02-2015, 04:25 PM
Loved the way Jimmy handled it.

I brought you some shit, it will last this long...and then you're on your own.

Sadly, I've done the same thing in my life for different reasons and then got called the bad guy. It was a poignant scene and tough to watch :(

Hal-9000
04-02-2015, 04:28 PM
I like how they're portraying the character. He tries to be a slime but has a heart and a conscience in most of the things he's involved with.

and just when you think that Jimmy/Saul is a good guy...remember he's the one who introduced Walt to Gus Fring originally *

*and set into motion two of the best damned seasons TV had to offer

Why didn't he go to the meeting with the other law firm and see about a job there?

Teh One Who Knocks
04-09-2015, 04:06 PM
Yeah, I dunno why he didn't do that either...he made it all the way to the courthouse and almost in, then turned around and went and asked Mike why they didn't keep all that money. I dunno why he did that.

Hal-9000
04-09-2015, 04:25 PM
He used the Kevin Costner line...I remember the reference from BB

Teh One Who Knocks
04-10-2015, 03:34 PM
After thinking about it for awhile, maybe after looking back on everything he has done (especially the Chicago Sunroof on the kids) that he didn't think he deserved a good job like the one he was going to find out about at the courthouse?

Hal-9000
04-10-2015, 03:55 PM
It would be tough to say. Seems he's always looking for the big pay day and that would have been completely legit...with him actually doing the background work on the case

Even a law degree from the University of American Guam or whatever would have been difficult to earn.

And after Chuck hurt his feelings, you'd think a legit shot at another law firm would be something he would jump at, just to show Chuck he's not a loser :-k

I'm probably the only person here that doesn't like the show as much as everyone else.

If you take away the Breaking Bad origins, it's a drama about an average guy trying to be a lawyer. Lots of long, colorful artistic scenery shots a la Breaking Bad which in some ways, kinda seem like a rip off to me.

 go ahead, flame away..

Same with me, I think I watched all of season 1 though (or most of it), but that was it for me. I thought it slowly got better and I was almost looking forward to the second season, but that wore off.
