PLUM, Pa. —A Plum High School teacher was arrested Wednesday on charges connected to an alleged sexual relationship with a student.
Plum police said Jason Cooper, 38, was arraigned at District Judge Linda Zucco's office on felony counts of institutional sexual assault and corruption of minors, along with a misdemeanor charge of furnishing alcohol to a minor. Bond was set at $25,000.
Cooper, of Monroeville, is suspected of having "inappropriate conduct" with the female student at school and at his home, police said.
During the Cooper investigation, police said they learned about a second student-teacher relationship, which is now also being investigated. Police did not identify the teacher in the second investigation.
In a written statement, Plum Borough School District Superintendent Timothy Glasspool said Cooper was suspended during the police investigation. He declined further comment.
The district is also aware of the second case involving another teacher, but Glasspool said he "must afford the student and teacher anonymity during this investigation. Until the police determine the salient facts, we are unable to provide additional information."
