Yesterday, a jury rejected an Oklahoma pharmacist's plea that he was acting in self-defense when he killed a man in an attempted robbery, and sent him to prison for first-degree murder.

According to Tulsa World, two employees at Reliable Discount Pharmacy testified that Jerome Jay Ersland saved their lives and was a "hero" for shooting at the two masked robbers two years ago, killing one.

But prosecutors played the store's surveillance video to argue that he was acting in cold-blood when he shot the masked robber, left the store to chase the other robber, returned, grabbed another gun, and then shot the unconscious man five more times.

weird....

(I have a story!...)

A number of years ago in our city, a pharmacist who owned his drugstore shot and killed a would-be burglar.Turns out he had a history of being robbed and had pulled his gun previously on a would-be thief before the incident where he killed the guy.

The trial was prominent in our city because of the different gun control laws and the question of - Was the druggist waiting for someone to screw with him because of past occurrences? ( a la Bernard Goetz)

I think he was finally acquitted...I live on 45st and 33rd ave, his store was on 33 ave about 2 miles away, I had met the old guy before he shot the burglar. His name was Kessler.

Very similar to the story above
