Biden places hands on shoulders of defense secretary's wife in latest gaffe

It was just another example of Vice President Biden grabbing headlines in a feel-good moment.

What began as a routine swearing-in ceremony for new Defense Secretary Ashton Carter on Tuesday morphed into a social media celebration when Biden awkwardly placed his hands upon Carter's wife, Stephanie.

As Carter began speaking, Biden beckoned Stephanie Carter from across the room, then put both hands on her shoulders. They lingered there for roughly 20 seconds until Biden leaned in and whispered in her ear.

Soon after, Ashton Carter reached over to place his right hand on Stephanie's shoulder.

Then, a few hours later, Biden was discussing Minneapolis' large Somali community and noted his hometown of Wilmington, Delaware, also has a large Somali presence. Biden said he has great relations with them "because an awful lot of them are driving cabs."

Both incidents sparked prompt and voluminous reactions on social media.

We had a guy here that used to be all touchy-feely and it creeped me out. One day he did it to me while I was sitting at my desk and I had finally had enough and I told him "dude, if you touch me again I will rip your arms off and beat you with them. Stay out of my personal space." He didn't touch me again :lol:

my old supervisor was not shy....he cut people down with great ease and enjoyment

we had a UPS rep trying to get some business and he kept touching my supervisor...my super spoke up in loud voice - Hey hal are you seeing this??? This guy keeps touching me!!!! (we were all standing about 3 feet apart in a group)

the guy did it again even after that blatant cue...so my super says in a quiet and scary voice - Sir, only my wife and cats are allowed to touch me. Do it again and I'll have you escorted from the premises.
