Nicholas Brendon has been having a rough go of it recently. The Buffy the Vampire Slayer star was arrested on Monday, February 16, in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. He reportedly trashed his hotel room and skipped out of on the bill.
The arrest comes just four days after announcing a split from his wife of five months, Moonda Tee. He was in town for Shock Pop Comiccon, and according to reports, drunkenly trashed a Hilton hotel room to the tune of $450 in damages, plus he refused to pay his $380 bill.
The Criminal Minds star's reps made a statement on his behalf. "Nicholas is, unfortunately, battling a disease that many of us don't understand. We are working with him to improve upon the situation at hand and look toward the future. He's sorry for his actions and takes what happened last night very seriously. We will take great care to ensure his safety in the future."
Last October, the troubled star checked into rehab after admitting to being under the influence of prescription meds and alcohol, when he damaged another hotel property in Idaho and resisted arrest.
It is so hard to see someone struggle with addiction and self-destructive behavior. We hope that Nick is able to get the help he needs to overcome his demons.
Thankfully, it seems like he does have help. His rep also told E! News, "We are aware that Nicholas' actions are of a much deeper origin -- and we are working toward creating a healthy environment for him to thrive in. The past several months have been trying, and Nicholas' disease is damaging and consistently misunderstood. We are doing everything in our power at Camp Nick to assure his recovery."
